Abstract
100,262. Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges. April 10, 1915, [Convention date]. Electro-magnetic interrupters.-An alternating- current relay apparatus comprises a pair of permanent magnets m, m<2> having their poles surrounded by coils carrying the alternating current, the pivoted spring-controlled armatures a<1>, a<2> engaging contacts k arranged in in the local circuit. When the alternating-current circuit is closed the local circuit is kept open, one armature a<1> opening its contact k during one half-wave, and the other armature a<2> during the other half-wave. A common yoke may be used for the two magnets m m<2>. As shown in Fig. 1, each magnet has a S-pole carrying the coils and a N-pole forming the armature, the coils being similarly wound on each S-pole. In a modification, the coils on the magnet m<2> are wound oppositely to those on the magnet m, the coil-carrying poles of the magnet m<2> being of N-polarity. In other modifications, the contacts k are on the same side of their armatures. The cores may be straight and unpolarized, their coils being connected in parallel across the alternating-current leads, and a condenser being placed in series with one coil to give a suitable phase-displacement.
