Abstract

1,000,928. Power-distribution tracks. LIGHTOLIER Inc. Nov. 15, 1963 [Aug. 12, 1963], No. 45150/63. Heading H2E. The Specification relates to mounting flush with a ceiling or wall, power-distribution tracks of the type described and claimed in Specification 1,000,930. As shown, the distribution track comprises a channel-shaped member 11 in which conductors 28, 29 are carried in an insulating strip 18 which is claimed in Specification 1,000,923. The channel member 11 is supported within an inverted U-shaped housing 30 which is set into the mounting surface, the open face of the track being flush with the mouth of the housing. The track is held in the housing by torsion springs 45 and channel-shaped members 50. The coil of each spring is positioned beneath a member 50 which themselves engage under flanges 15 to hold up the track. The ends of the torsion springs project through a hole in the housing and spring apart. In a further embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) channels engage under the flanges 15 of the track and are suspended from the housing by bolts. The housing is mounted in the ceiling or wall by means of plates 40 formed on the end of lathing strips 41, the plates 40 being inserted into grooves 36, 39 formed on the side walls of the housing. To connect adjacent housings together strips 71, 71<SP>1</SP> are fitted into grooves 36, 39 (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 8 (not shown) the housing is installed in a dry type ceiling in which the edges of adjacent tiles 82 are positioned between flanges 38, 33 and 38, 34. The Specification also describes a connector plug for the track which is claimed in Specification 1,000,925 and a power connector assembly for the track which is claimed in Specification 1,000,927.
