Abstract

The compartment (3) has an opening that is closed by a flap (6). A tray is attached to the flap by a mechanism so as to take-up a horizontal extension position and a retracted storage position. A front rod (16), and a rear rod (17) are connected in an articulated manner in a lower face of the tray, and in an interior face of the flap. The rods are placed between the tray and the flap in the storage position, and the tray extends above and partially behind the flap in an opening position when the tray takes the storage position and extension position respectively.

Description

The present invention relates to a glove box or vehicle vacuum-bag, that is to say a blind compartment for storing small objects formed in the board. on board, in front of the front passenger. The invention relates more particularly to a glove box equipped with an integrated tablet gate, in which the door can take firstly a first position, storage, in which the shelf is enclosed in the compartment and the gate closes said compartment, and a second working position, in which the gate is in the open position and the tablet takes a horizontal working position. Document US Pat. No. 7,494,172 discloses such a gate and its shelf, which is mobile with respect to the gate but linked by a linkage so as to assume a horizontal position in extension relative to the horizontally open gate, and a retracted storage position to be able to stay in the compartment. The arrangement adopted is disadvantageous in that the shelf in extended position is substantially at the same level as the gate open horizontally, that is to say at a low enough level that may interfere with the knees of the front passenger . The object of the invention is to provide a glove-box with integrated gate and shelf that allow a horizontal implementation of the tablet without requiring the gate is fully open horizontally. The invention achieves its goal through a storage compartment 25 in the dashboard of a vehicle, having an opening which can be closed by a gate hinged to its lower part on a substantially horizontal axis and likely to take a position of closure and an open position, a shelf being connected to the gate by a mechanism so as to assume a horizontal position in extension relative to the gate in the open position, and a retracted storage position to be able to lodge in the compartment when the gate is in the closed position, characterized in that the mechanism is constituted by two pairs of lateral connecting rods articulately connecting the lower face of the shelf and the inner face of the gate, in its upper part 35, the connecting rods being longer than the rear connecting rods, so that the tablet can take on one hand a storage position in which it is substantially contiguous to the inner face of the gate, the two pairs of rods then being housed between the shelf and the gate, and secondly said extended horizontal position in which the shelf extends above and partially in rear of the gate in the open position. With this arrangement, the shelf can be stored without taking up too much space inside the compartment and it can be deployed and take a stable horizontal position, preferably focused on the front passenger, the tablet coming to a higher level and further back than the door in the open position so that in practice, the tablet is found partially above the knees of the passenger who can use it as he sees fit to eat or work. Advantageously, the gate in the open position is not disposed horizontally but makes an oblique angle of approximately 30 to 600 with the horizontal, which makes it possible to avoid the gate to move back too far in the passenger compartment, where could to find the passenger's knees. Advantageously the rods are flat rods, which allows them to take up little space when they are stored, especially one next to the other. Advantageously, they are articulated on foot on rod supports arranged on the gate so as to form laterally offset faces on which the front and rear connecting rods are articulated, and likewise, the connecting rods are advantageously articulated at the head on 25 rod supports arranged under the shelf so as to form laterally offset faces on which the front and rear connecting rods are articulated. These offsets allow the front and rear connecting rods to pivot without interference and to be stored parallel to each other. Advantageously, the connecting rod supports also comprise at least one stop to limit the articulation of the connecting rods in the position where the tablet is deployed horizontally. For greater strength, one can provide several stops, for example one at each foot of the rod.

Advantageously, the gate comprises lateral arms limiting travel. These arms can limit the opening of the pivoting gate and block it in its maximum open position.

Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment. Reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a passenger compartment front, showing a front passenger in front of the dashboard compartment, the door being closed and the shelf therefore not visible; . Figure 2 is a view similar to the previous one, the door being open and the shelf deployed in horizontal working position. Figure 3 is a diagrammatic detail view in perspective of three-quarter front showing the partially open door and the shelf still in the undeployed position. Figure 4 is a schematic detail view in rear three-quarter perspective, showing the partially open door and the shelf still in the non-deployed position. Figure 5 is a schematic perspective detail view of three-quarter rear quarter, showing the door fully open and the shelf in the deployed position. Figure 6 is a schematic side view showing the fully open door and the shelf in different deployment positions. The reference trihedron XYZ has been indicated in all the figures, X 25 pointing to the rear longitudinal direction, Y the transverse direction and Z the vertical direction. Figures 1 and 2 show very schematically the front of the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, with a dashboard 1 disposed transversely to the front of the vehicle, with a steering wheel 2 on the left (for a driving left) and a glove compartment 3 formed in a lower space of the dashboard 1, facing a front passenger 4. The compartment is blind, with a rigid envelope 5 closed at the front (c ') that is to say the forward direction of the vehicle) and opening at the rear (that is to say on the facade of the dashboard 1) by an opening that can come to close a door 6.

A shelf 10 is connected to the gate 6 by a kinematics which will be detailed later, so as to fit in the compartment 3 when the gate 6 is closed (Figure 1) and can be deployed horizontally to the passenger 4 when the gate 6 is open (Figure 2).

In this extended position of Figure 2, the tablet 10, whose dimensions are for example about 400 mm in width (Y direction) and 220 to 270 n-mi in depth (X direction), extends partially above passenger 4's knees so that he can use it to work, read, eat, put down his computer, etc.

The gate 6 has a slightly rounded cylindrical shape and is pivotally mounted about a substantially transverse horizontal axis 11 by means of pins below the opening of the compartment 3. The exact shape and position of the gate 6 take account of the " design "of the dashboard 1. Its dimensions are substantially of the order of those of the tablet 10, just slightly higher. Two fixed inner side arms 12 are formed on the gate 6 to serve as pivotal guidance and especially travel limiters; these flat arms 12 are housed in a narrow slot on either side of the internal volume of the compartment 3; the arms 12 terminate in a hook 13 which makes it possible to block, on an abutment provided in the slot where each arm 12 moves, the arms 12 in the maximum deployment position. In this position corresponding to Figures 2, 5, 6, the gate 6 is open at an angle, for example 60 °, but is not arranged horizontally so that it does not abut in the knees of the passenger 4.

The gate 6 also has in the middle of its upper edge a conventional device 15 for locking the gate in the closed position. The shelf 10 is connected to the door 6 by two pairs of connecting rods 16 and rear 17, disposed laterally under the shelf 10 and the inner side of the door 6, the rods 16, 17 being freely articulated at both ends. The front rods 16 are longer than the rear rods 17 and are arranged on the gate 6 and under the shelf 10 so that it takes, in a fully deployed position (Figures 2 and 5) a perfectly horizontal position, whatever or the fully deployed position of the door 6. In some models of cockpit, it may be that the surface of the dashboard 1 and the gate 6 are not a cylindrical surface axis perfectly parallel to the Y direction. these conditions, it is possible that the gate 6, when it opens, is substantially "crooked" as seen in Figure 3. The positioning and the length of the rods 16, 17 are provided to compensate for this offset and that nevertheless the shelf 10 is deployed horizontally and in the longitudinal axis of the passenger 4. This is the reason why we see in Figure 5 that the connecting rods are articulated on foot on supports 18 of height dif ferent one side and the other of the gate 6. In any case, each support 18 has a face 19 on which is articulated the front link 16 and a parallel face 20 on which is articulated the rear connecting rod 17; the rear face 20 is offset from the front face 19 substantially by a value corresponding at least to the thickness of the flat rod 16 so that when the rods are folded forward for storage of the tablet, the connecting rod before 16 does not interfere with the rear link 17 which can instead pass near her. A similar arrangement is provided under the lower face of the shelf 10. The supports 18 are formed so as to provide a maximum pivoting stop to the connecting rods 16, 17, in the positions shown in FIG. 5. The supports 18 at the foot of connecting rod are placed rather at the upper part of the gate 10 so that the shelf can be arranged substantially against the inside of the gate 6, the connecting rods 16, 17 are arranged parallel between the shelf 10 and the gate 6. Figure 6 shows on the same figure four positions of the tablet during its deployment (or its storage). The position referenced 10 is the horizontal position of maximum extension. The storage position against the door 6 is the position referenced 10a, which corresponds to the position of the tablet in Figures 3 and 4 (and 1, but the tablet is not visible). Figures 10b and 10c are two intermediate positions. As can be seen, the deployment (or storage) kinematics do not encroach much on the surrounding space, so that the front bottom of the compartment 5 remains available for accommodating objects such as bottles 21.
