Abstract

The headrest (1) has a reverse U-shaped tubular armature (2) including an upper part (3) folded towards the front so as to be enrolled in a plane parallel to a plane defined by a lower part of U-shaped branches (4). A rigid front shell (5) covers the part and has a front surface (6) and a rear surface (7) that is provided with an associating unit (8). A rectangular blank (9) is associated to the shell by fixation units i.e. fasteners, and made of coating material. An elastic block (10) is arranged between the blank and the surface (6) and made of aggregated flexible foam flock.

Description

The invention relates to a headrest of a motor vehicle seat.

It is known to make a headrest comprising an armature, in particular tubular, for mounting on the back of the seat, said armature having a generally U-shaped overturned, the upper part of which is folded forward so as to be inscribed in a plane substantially parallel to the plane defined by the lower part of the branches of the U.

Such a headrest is used in particular on the rear seats, its shape to adjust it in the low position, when not in use, giving visibility to the rear.

The known embodiments provide in particular for the upper part of the reinforcement to be overmolded by or inserted into a foam block, said block being coated with a cap made of a coating material, in particular a textile material, said cap comprising at least two blanks associated with each other, in particular by sewing.

Such an embodiment is complex and expensive, in particular because of the large amount of coating material used to make the cap and the operation of association of the blanks, in particular by sewing.

The invention aims to overcome these disadvantages.

For this purpose, the invention provides a motor vehicle seat headrest, comprising a mounting frame on the backrest of said seat, said armature having a generally U-shaped overturned, the upper part is bent forward so to be inscribed in a plane substantially parallel to the plane defined by the lower part of the branches of the U, said headrest further comprising: a rigid front shell covering the folded portion of the U, said shell comprising a front face and a rear face provided with means of association with said armature, 2 • a blank of coating material associated by fixing means to said front shell facing said front face, • a block of elastic material disposed between said blank and said front face.

In this description, the positioning terms in the space (front, rear, bottom, top, ...) are taken with reference to the headrest disposed in the vehicle.

The following description is made with reference to the attached figure which is an exploded perspective representation of a headrest according to one embodiment.

Referring to the figure, there is described a headrest 1 of a motor vehicle seat, comprising a mounting frame 2, in particular tubular, on the backrest of said seat, said armature having a generally U-shaped overturned whose upper part 3 is folded forward so as to be inscribed in a plane substantially parallel to the plane defined by the lower part of the branches 4 of the U, said headrest further comprising: a rigid front shell 5, in particular of molded plastic, covering the folded part 3 of the U, said shell comprising a front face 6 and a rear face 7 provided with association means 8 to said frame, here in the form of clips, • a blank 9 of coating material, in particular of textile or leather , Associated by fastening means, not shown, to said front shell facing said front face, a block 10 of elastic material disposed between said blank and said front face.

In a manner not shown, the rear face 7 may comprise at its periphery a plurality of fixing pins, said pins being planted at the periphery of the blank 9 to form fixing means. 3 Not shown, the blank 9 may be associated with the front shell 5 by staples planted at the periphery of the rear face 7 forming fastening means.

The headrest further comprises a rear shell 11 integral, for example by interlocking, the front shell 5 and extending opposite the fastening means so as to hide them.

The blank 9 here has a substantially rectangular shape, which allows to minimize the cutting falls of the coating material.

According to one embodiment, the block 10 is based on agglomerated soft foam flakes, in particular derived from recycling. Alternatively, it is based on felt.

Motor vehicle headrest (1), comprising an armature (2) for mounting on the backrest of said seat, said armature having a generally U-shaped overturned whose upper part (3) is folded forwards so as to be inscribed in a plane substantially parallel to the plane defined by the lower part of the branches (4) of the U, said headrest being characterized in that it further comprises: a rigid front shell (5) covering the folded portion of the U, said shell comprising a front face (6) and a rear face (7) provided with means of association (8) with said frame, • a blank (9) of coating material associated by fixing means said front shell facing said front face, a block (10) of elastic material disposed between said blank and said front face. 2. Headrest according to claim 1, characterized in that the rear face (7) comprises at its periphery a plurality of fixing pins, said pins being planted at the periphery of the blank (9) to form fixing means. 3. headrest according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the blank (9) is associated with the front shell (5) by staples planted on the periphery of the rear face (7) forming means fixation. 25 4.
