Abstract
Description
La présenteMotor vehicle structure adapted for lateral impact. The current
The invention relates to a motor vehicle structure, of the type comprising: - a lateral access opening defined by a front structure foot, a rear structure foot, and a substantially longitudinal lower and upper part connecting the front and rear feet; at least one side door extending between the front and rear legs; - a reinforcing bar fixed on the door; and - a bottom rail arranged opposite the lower part and transversely to it. Motor vehicle structures traditionally have a front side door, a rear side door, and a center pillar, called the center pillar, which connects the underside frame to the roof. It separates the front and rear doors.
The middle foot plays a major role in the event of a side impact, its role being to transmit the forces received by the doors to the base. However, some vehicles do not have a standpipe, especially vehicles whose doors are of antagonistic opening type, posing problems for side impact resistance.
US Pat. No. 6,332,641 B1 discloses a structure of the type described above, in which, in the event of a side impact, a portion of the forces resulting from the impact can be transmitted from the vertical bar to the crossbar of underbody. However, this structure is not optimal in terms of transmission of effort. The invention aims to improve the safety of passengers, especially for vehicles without a stand, limiting the deformation of the passenger compartment. For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a motor vehicle structure of the aforementioned type, characterized in that it comprises means for transmitting forces fixed on the lower end of the bar and opposite the underbody crossbar. and adapted to, during a side impact sustained by the vehicle, receive a portion of the forces from the shock and transmitted by the bar, and direct a portion of said forces to the underbody. The structure according to the invention may comprise one or more of the following features: the reinforcement bar is vertical and arranged along the edge of the door, so that the underbody crossbar and the vertical bar are substantially coplanar ; - The reinforcement bar is diagonal and has one end fixed on the force transmission means and the other end disposed opposite the associated foot; the vertical and / or diagonal bars are tubular and / or profiled; said door comprises a door skin and a door lining fixed to one another and defining a space between them, the reinforcement bar and the force transmission means being disposed in said space; - The vertical bar is fixed on said door by the force transmission means and by fixing lugs; the force transmission means comprise a metal hollow box fixed on said door; it comprises a front lateral door and a rear lateral door extending between the front and rear feet, and provided respectively with a rear edge and a front edge adapted to cooperate with each other in the closed position of the doors, the door with reinforcement bar being the back door; and the two doors are of the counter-opening type. The invention also relates to a motor vehicle, characterized in that it comprises a structure as described above. The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, given by way of example only and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: - Figure 1 is a perspective side view illustrating schematically a motor vehicle according to the invention, wherein the doors are of antagonistic opening type and shown closed; - Figure 2 is a view similar to that of Figure 1, the doors being shown open; Figure 3 is a partially cutaway perspective side view of the vehicle of Figure 1 showing the arrangement of the reinforcing bars and force transmitting means; - Figure 4 is a transverse vertical sectional view along the plane P of Figure 1; - Figure 5 is a perspective view of the force transmission means; and FIG. 6 is an exploded perspective view of a rear door of the vehicle of FIG. 1. In order to simplify the description which follows, the figures have been oriented along the axis system X, Y, Z defining the usual orientation of a motor vehicle, and wherein: the X axis is the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, oriented from rear to front; - the Y axis is the transverse axis oriented from right to left; and - the Z axis is the vertical axis oriented from bottom to top. The terms of position and orientation that are used subsequently agree with respect to this axis system. Figure 1 shows, in a simplified manner, the left side structure of a motor vehicle 12. The structure 10 has a continuous lateral access opening 14 delimited by a front structure foot 16, a rear structure foot 18, and a substantially longitudinal lower portion 20 and an upper portion 22 connecting the front and rear legs 16, 18. Two openings 24 and 26 are hinged to the structure 10 and extend between the front and rear legs 16, 18. The openings 24 and 26 are respectively front 24 and rear 24 front doors pivotally mounted respectively about a substantially vertical axis 28 and 30 axis. The pins 28 and 30 are respectively carried by the front feet 16 and rear 18, the doors 24, 26 thus being counter-opening and the vehicle 12 being devoid of a center pillar. Each door 24, 26 has a box 32, 34 which respectively forms the lower part of the door 24, 26. Each box 32, 34 is extended in the direction Z, substantially in the same plane, to form a frame 36, 38 of a window 40, 42. As best seen in Figure 2, the front 24 and rear doors 26 are respectively provided with a rear edge 44 and 46 forward adapted to cooperate with each other in the closed position of the doors 24 26. The rear and front edges 44, 46 are formed by profiles extending substantially in the Z direction between the lower and upper longitudinal portions 20, 22 of the structure 10.
The rear and front edges 44, 46 are equipped with locking means 48 connected to a handle 50 of the door 24, 26 respectively, so that the opening / closing of the rear door 26 is dependent on that of the front door 24 Sealing means (not shown) are provided between the rear and front edges 44, 46. Bottom locks 52 and upper 54, adapted to hold the rear door 26 in the closed position, comprise lower 56 and upper 58 fixed locks. respectively on the lower and upper parts 20, 22 of the structure 10, substantially behind the ends of the front edge 46 of the rear door 26 when it is closed. Referring to Figures 3-6, the rear door 26 includes a door skin 60, a door liner 62, and an upper support member 64 forming the window frame. The skin 60 and the liner 62 are fixed to each other so as to be superimposed to form the box 34 of the door 26 by defining a space 66 between them. The support piece 64 is fixed on the liner 62, its lower part is housed in the space 66. The structure 10 comprises three reinforcing bars, including a vertical bar 68, two diagonal bars 70, and transmission means. efforts.
The vertical and diagonal reinforcing bars 68, 70 are fixed to the rear door 26 by means of fastening tabs 72, themselves fixed on the liner 62, and housed in the space 66. The three reinforcement bars 68 , 70 are tubular or profiled and metallic or composite, and have a substantially circular cross section.
The force transmission means comprise a hollow metal box 74 fixed to the rear door 26 via the liner 62, and housed in the space 66. The box 74 has a substantially parallelepipedal main body 76 integral with a upper collar 78.
The vertical bar 68 is fixed along the front edge 46 of the rear door 26 and has its lower end 80 inserted into the neck 78 of the box 74 and fixed thereto. The diagonal bars 70 have their front end 82 inserted into a respective groove 83 formed in the main body 76 and fixed thereto, and their rear end 84 disposed opposite the rear foot 18.
The box 74 thus forms a support for fixing the vertical and diagonal bars 68, 70. The lower part 20 comprises a spar having an outer member 86, an inner member 88 and a spar reinforcement 90 fixed to each other (FIGS. 4 and 5). The fixing of the various elements together is carried out by means of weld seams and / or weld points, as illustrated by crosses in FIG. 5. A bottom cross member 92 is arranged facing the lower part 20 and transversely to it.
The cross-member 92 and the vertical bar 68 are substantially coplanar (FIG. 4) and the cross-member 92 is disposed opposite the box 74. When the vehicle 12 is subjected to a lateral impact, a portion of the forces resulting from the shock are transmitted to the steering bar. vertical reinforcement 68 and / or the diagonal reinforcement bars 70 and propagate along this or these bars to the box 74, which then carries these forces on the underbody 92. Indeed, during a shock , the bottom of the rear door 26 comprising the box 74, located opposite the lower part 20, bears on the latter which then transmits the forces received to the underbody 92. The structure according to the invention therefore allows to improve the lateral impact behavior of the vehicle economically, the deformation of the passenger compartment is thus limited. Thanks to the force transmission means, which form not only a reinforcement of the lower area of the rear door but which also serve as support for fixing the vertical and diagonal reinforcement bars, the forces are transmitted optimally to the base of the vehicle.
The invention has been described with reference to the left side of the vehicle 12, the right side being symmetrical or different from the invention, for example having a center pillar. As a variant, the doors 24, 26 are counter-opening but open / close each other independently of one another. Obviously, the invention can be adapted to any other vehicle for which it is sought to optimize the transmission of forces to the underbody. Alternatively, the box 74 may be made of composite material. Alternatively also, the cross section of the reinforcing bars 68, 70 is any, for example square, and the structure 10 has only one diagonal bar 70.
In yet another variant, the vertical and diagonal reinforcement bars 68, 70 and the force transmission means are provided on the front door 24 of the vehicle 12, symmetrically with respect to the rear edge 44 of the front door 24. or at the front edge 46 of the rear door 26, as previously described.
The invention relates to the lower lateral zone of the vehicle 12, but it is possible to provide force transmission means attached to the upper end of the vertical bar 68 and arranged opposite a roof cross member integral with the portion upper 22 of the structure 10, this cross member being substantially transverse and coplanar with the upper portion 22 and the vertical bar 68 respectively. Thus, during a lateral impact to the vehicle 12, a portion of the forces resulting from the impact are transmitted to the vertical bar 68 and directed towards the roof crossbar. Similarly, depending on the type of vehicle, it is possible that the latter is equipped only with a vertical bar, such as the bar 68, or that of one or more diagonal bars 70; Whatever the configuration chosen, the latter has at its lower end the box 74 described above opposite the underbond 92.
