Abstract
The car body side protection system consists of a set of steel reinforcing beams incorporated in the doors. They can also be fitted in the wings, at each corner of the car or fitted transversely at both ends. The beams, viewed in plan, are trapezoidal shaped and they can slide and lock themselves fairly flexibly when acted on by transverse beams. The beams transverse to the chassis are fixed to it. If required, the beams can be made hollow, to reduce weight. Apart from the trapezoidal section, the ends of the beams are wider than the rest of their length.
