Abstract

The device has a floating element (2) supporting a man overboard, and including a floating belt with a strap (7) hooked to an end of a rope (3). The element and the rope are contained in an envelope (1) hooked to a hand rail of a boat. The rope has another end (6) fixed to the boat, and is retained by a lateral flap (5) of the envelope. A Velcro(RTM: hook and loop system) firmly maintains the flap, and permits opening of the flap under an effect of traction of the rope when the element is thrown into water, so as to enable the rope to be totally independent of the envelope.

Description

It relates generally to the industrial and commercial field of the manufacture and distribution of articles intended for the rescue of occupants of a boat fallen into the water ("man overboard"). The device is constituted by a bag serving as a receptacle for a floating element intended to be released in the direction of the person to be rescued, this floating element being attached to one end of a rope whose other end is fixed to the boat.

15 For the rescue of a passenger fallen to the sea is known the traditional buoy, possibly connected to the boat, which is thrown to the shipwrecked. To date, there are a large number of systems comprising an envelope cover provided with at least one opening-closing flap of the cover and adapted to receive a floating element associated with a rope. In some cases, the rope is housed in bulk in the cover, which requires launching the floating object towards the person fallen into the water, while holding by hand one end of the rope to be able to recover the floating craft and the person in trouble. In other cases, the rope passes through the cover. When launching the floating element, the bag will remain between the attachment cleat on the boat and the floating element. By way of example, mention may be made of the patent N FR 2 761 335 in which the cover comprises, in its lower part, at least one hole for the passage of a second rope, one end of which protrudes out of the cover for to be attached to the boat and whose other end extends into the cover and forms a loop on which is engaged a winding-unwinding coil of the rope associated with the floating craft. In this system, the cover is always secured to the rope connected to the floating element and the coil may lock, preventing this element to reach the passenger to save.

The device according to the present invention eliminates all the disadvantages mentioned above. Indeed, it prevents the bag or receptacle of a man system to ruer remains, during implementation, integral with the rope placed between a mooring on the boat and the floating element.

It consists of a floating element capable of supporting a man fallen into the water and attached to one end of a rope whose other end is fixed to the boat, the whole being normally contained in a bag attached to the guardrail of the boat, the rope being retained by a lateral flap of the bag kept closed by means of a claw and loop system ("Velcro") so as to open under the effect of the traction of the rope thus making it totally independent of the bag. In the accompanying drawings, given by way of non-limiting example of an embodiment according to the present application: FIG. 1 is an axonometric view showing the bag intended to contain the floating element and the rope, FIG. shows in the same conditions the bag with the floating element released and FIG. 3 represents, always in axonometric perspective, the bag seen from below, showing the rope coiled in the bottom of the latter, as well as the end of the rope intended for be tied to a cleat of the boat.

The device, Figures 1 to 3, consists of a bag 1 or cover adapted to contain a floating element 2 and a rope 3 attached on one side to the floating element and the other to a cleat or hook fixed on the boat.

The bag 1 is provided with at least one opening-closing flap 4 and is arranged to be fixed by straps to the rail of the boat. It has on one side a side flap 5 held closed by strips of claws and loops ("Velcro"). When the floating element 2 is disposed in the bag 1, the cordage 3 is coiled at the bottom of the bag and the end 6 opposite the floating element comes out of the bag by the opening for the exit of the floating element, passes under the side flap 5 so as to be maintained on the side of the bag 1, and is fixed by cleat or hook to the edge of the boat, near the bag 1.

When the floating element 2 is thrown into the water, the rope 3 takes place. When the rope is in tension, the side flap 5 opens under the effect of traction, thanks to the closing system with claws and loops, and releases the rope thus making the latter completely independent of the bag 1. It can then recover the shipwrecked without being bothered by the bag.

The floating element 2 may in particular consist of a flexible or rigid buoy or a floating belt provided with a strap 7 attached to the rope 3.

The bag 1 will advantageously comprise a bottom 8 mesh for the flow of water. It can be provided on the front of a series of vignettes 9 illustrating how to operate.

The positioning of the various constituent elements gives the object of the invention a maximum of useful effects that had not been obtained so far by similar devices.
