<B> FLAN </ B> CARDBOARD <B> OR </ B> SIMILAR MATERIAL FOR <B> OBTAINING <B> PACKAGING OR </ B> PART <B PACKAGING AND PACKAGING BY OBTAINING THE VOLUME OF THIS FLAN The present invention relates to the general field of packaging. It relates more particularly to a blank of cardboard or similar material for obtaining a packaging or a portion of packaging and comprising a parallelepipedic support element on the upper face of which products are intended <B> to </ B > come to rest (for example a bottom packaging), which support element comprises at least two extensions at two of its opposite sides, connected by fold lines. This invention also relates to the packaging obtained by setting the volume of the carton blank <B>; </ B> it also relates to a particular combination of small and large packages.

Typically, certain types of packaging or product support structures comprise a plane bottom bordered by side walls connected by means of fold lines.

When these packaging or support structures are loaded and when supported only by their ends, the flat bottom undergoes a deformation related to the weight of the products. The thicknesses and qualities of the materials used are adapted to the loads envisaged, in particular to limit the buckling <B> to </ B> of the tolerable values.

The object of the present invention is to design packaging and more generally product carriers which, while retaining their buckling resistance qualities, are obtained by using smaller quantities and / or qualities of cardboard, or which, B> to </ B> equal quality of cardboard, withstand buckling better.

The blank of cardboard or similar material according to the present invention, cut and grooved to obtain a packaging or a part of packaging, is of the type comprising <B> - </ B> a parallelepipedic or substantially parallelepipedic support element on the upper face which products are intended to come to rest, and at least two extensions at two opposite sides of said support, connected by fold lines. According to the present invention, the fold lines which connect the two extensions facing each other and the support member are shaped so that when said extensions are folded perpendicularly or substantially perpendicularly relative to the support element, the upper face of this support member takes a slightly convex shape. This predeformation, which is the inverse of the deformation generated by the weight of the products, makes it possible for the support element to better withstand the load.

Preferably, the fold lines that connect the two extensions vis-à-vis and the bottom element have an arcuate shape. For particular embodiments, they may be in the form of a juxtaposition of circular arcs.

According to a first embodiment, the two vis-à-vis extensions are intended <B> to </ B> to fold upwards with respect to <B> to </ B> the support element, during the setting up volume <B>; </ B> the two arcuate folding lines that connect the extensions and the support element then have an arrow that is oriented outwards.

According to a particular embodiment, the cardboard blank comprises a support element in the form of a square or rectangular bottom whose four sides comprise extensions connected by fold lines which all have an arcuate shape, in a <B> to </ B> that said bottom element takes a curved shape on both its longitudinal and transverse axes, after setting volume.

The invention also relates to the packaging or the portion of packaging obtained by setting the volume of the blank of cardboard or similar material described above.

According to a particular embodiment, this package is in the form of a tray or tray, consisting of a square or rectangular bottom element bordered by four side walls. In this package, at least two of said walls facing each other are connected to the bottom element by fold lines in the shape of a circular arc (or in the form of a juxtaposition of arc of circle) whose arrow is directed towards the outside, and these walls vis-à-vis comprise upper borders also in the form of arcs of circle (or in the form of a juxtaposition of arcs of circle parallel or substantially parallel to said fold lines which connect said walls to said bottom member.

The present invention also relates to a combination of packagings comprising: <B> - </ B> at least one large package whose two large sidewalls are connected <B> to </ B> the bottom element by lines of folding consisting of a juxtaposition of circular arcs, and <B> - </ B> small packages whose two end walls are connected <B> to </ B> the bottom element by lines of folding in an arc.

The length of the small packages corresponds to the width of the large package and their width corresponds to the length of one of the arcs on said large package. The large and small packs further comprise means of stacking in the form of projecting tenons and associated openings arranged in the bottom element, adapted to allow their stacking combined.

The flat blank <B> 1 </ B> illustrated in Figure <B> 1 </ B> is made of corrugated cardboard. <B> It </ B> comprises a central element 2 of generally rectangular shape and two extensions <B> 3 </ B> connected by fold lines 4. The two extensions facing <B> 3 </ B> extend <B> to </ B> from the short sides of the central element 2, the long lengths of the latter being free.

The two fold lines 4 are not straight; they have an arcuate shape with the arrow <U> x </ U> pointing outwards, that is towards the end edge <B> 5 </ B> of the extensions < B> 3. </ B> The corresponding circular arc has a radius of fairly large size <B>; as an indication, for a blank width of the order of <B> 300 </ B> mm, the height of the arrow <U> x </ U> may be of the order of <B > 3 to 20 mm.

The cardboard blank <B> 1 </ B> is set to volume by raising the two extensions <B> 3 </ B> upwards to place them perpendicularly or substantially perpendicularly <B> to </ B> the element 2, in the manner illustrated in FIG. 2. During this maneuver, the folding lines 4 in an arc cause the central element 2 <B> to bend to conform substantially in cylinder. The upper face <B> 6 </ B> of this central element 2, located on the side of the two extensions <B> 3, </ B> thus takes a slightly convex or convex shape.

The folding lines 4 in an arc also cause a slight external bending of the two extensions <B> 3, </ B> once they are raised <B> to </ B> the square or substantially <B> to </ B> the square. The characteristics of the prior deformation of the bottom element 2 are adapted by varying the curvature of the fold lines 4, depending in particular on the nature of the cardboard used and the weight of the packaged products.

This structure can be kept in volume by means of a strapping or by wrapping the assembly with a heat-shrinkable plastic film.

Preferably, the fold lines 4 extend transversely to the <B> 8 </ B> grooves of the corrugated board (FIG. <B> 1). </ B>

In an alternative embodiment, the border edges <B> 5 </ B> of the extensions <B> 3 </ B> can be cut into arcs, parallel or substantially parallel to the fold lines 4, in particular to obtain stable positioning of the packages when stacked on top of each other. Stacking means of the projecting lug type associated with openings in the bottom element can also be envisaged.

Figure <B> 3 </ B> illustrates a container-shaped <B> 9 </ B> package obtained on the same principle, with a rectangular bottom <B> 10 </ B> bordered by two small end walls <B> 11 </ B> and two large longitudinal walls 12. The small walls <B> 11 </ B> have side flaps <B> 1 the </ B> whose outer face is secured to the inner face of the large walls 12 to maintain the volume of the tray.

In this embodiment the upper edge <B> 13 </ B> of the small walls <B> 11 </ B> extends parallel to the fold lines 14 which connect said small walls <B> 11 to </ B> the bottom element <B> 10, </ B> which makes it possible to stabilize the stacks of trays when they are superimposed on one another. Again, one can predict the presence of projecting tenons and associated openings, arranged in the bottom <B> 10, </ B> to improve the stabilization of these stacks.

The carton blank <B> 15 </ B> of Figure 4 corresponds to <B> to </ B> another possible embodiment in which the central portion <B> 16 </ B> has end extensions. <B> 17 </ B> connected by folding lines <B> 18 </ B> in an arc with the arrow <B> y </ B> pointing inwards.

As for the previous embodiment, this slightly curved shape makes it possible to increase the buckling resistance of the support element <B> 16. </ B>

Figures <B> 6 to 8 </ B> illustrate the principle of curved bottom conforming to the present invention, applied to packaging of the type of conditioning tray.

The corrugated cardboard blank 21 shown <B> to </ B> flat in Figure <B> 6 </ B> comprises a rectangular bottom member 22 whose long sides are extended by longitudinal walls <B> 23 </ B> connected by straight bending lines 24, and whose short sides are extended by end walls <B> 25 </ B> connected by arcuate folding lines <B> 26. </ B >

The arrow of the portions of the circle <B> 26 </ B> is oriented externally <B>; </ B> for a plate whose general dimensions are of the order of <B> 300 </ B> x 400 mm this arrow can be between <B> 3 </ B> and 20 mm.

The end walls <B> 25 </ B> are provided with side flaps <B> 27 </ B> connected by fold lines <B> 28 </ B> and their end edge has an extension < B> 30 </ B> along their entire length, connected by two fold lines <B> 31 </ B> and <B> 32. </ B> The first fold line <B> 31, </ B> situated on the side of the fold line <B> 26 </ B> is in the form of an arc of a circle parallel or substantially parallel <B> to </ B> the said fold line <B> 26. </ B> second fold line <B> 32 </ B> is also in the shape of an arc <B>; </ B> its arrow is the same or substantially the same <B> as </ B> that of the fold lines < B> 26 </ B> and <B> 31 </ B> but it points in the opposite direction.

The space between the two fold lines <B> 31 </ B> and <B> 32 </ B> defines a strip of material <B> 33 </ B> whose width is increasing towards the sides <B> from </ B> from the median longitudinal axis <B> 35 </ B> of the carton blank. The width of the <B> 33 </ B> strip may be of the order of a few mm in the center, for example slightly larger <B> than </ B> the thickness of the cardboard used <B>; </ B> > on the sides, this width can reach <B> 6 to 30 </ B> mm, possibly more.

When folding <B> at </ B> the end wall bracket <B> 25, <b> 26 </ B> arcuate lines force the bottom element 22 <B> to </ B> curl so that its upper face 42 takes a slightly convex shape. As has been seen previously, this bottom predation allows <B> to </ B> identical material quality, to improve the characteristics of buckling resistance of the bottom element 22.

On the other hand, during this folding, the end walls <B> 25 </ B> also bend slightly, especially in their lower zone. At their upper edge, this bending is non-existent or practically non-existent because of the combined rigidity and flexibility characteristics of the board. <B> </ B> this feature is visible in the figure <B> 8. </ B>

As can be seen in Figure <B> 9 </ B> the carton blank 44 includes a rectangular bottom member 45 bordered by two small end walls 46 connected by straight fold lines 47, and by two large longitudinal walls 48 connected by double-arc folding lines 49. In the embodiments which have just been described, the curved configuration of the support element 2, <B> 10, 16, </ B> 22 or 45 is obtained by means of fold lines configured in an arc of a circle. Although it is <B> there </ B> of a preferred embodiment, it is quite possible to envisage obtaining an identical or similar result by providing fold lines with less homogeneous curvatures. .
