Abstract

The cardboard tray (1) comprises a bottom (13) and a ring (2) of walls (3-6). Two opposite walls (5,6) are joined by folding lines (7) and end flaps (8). These walls are connected in their upper part by double folding lines (11) to second flaps (12) folded down towards the tray interior and fixed to the internal surface (14) of the corresponding wall. Each end flap is joined by a third double folding line (15), parallel to the second folding lines, to a first rectangular tongue (16) fixed on one surface of the adjacent side wall or onto the flap. This tongue is connected laterally to a second rectangular tongue (17) by a fourth folding line (18). The second tongue is extended via a fifth folding line (19) by a third rectangular tongue (20) fixed to the internal surface of the first wall. The three tongues thus form corner pillars.

TRAY IN CARDBOARD SHEET AND BLANK FOR
THE PRODUCTION OF SUCH A TRAY
The present invention relates to a tray of cardboard sheet material of the type comprising a bottom and a belt of side walls, including two opposite side walls, called first walls, respectively connected on either side by first fold lines to end flaps, called first flaps, participating in the constitution of corner pillars by folding, said first walls being connected in the upper part by second fold lines, double, to second flaps folded towards the inside of the tray and fixed on the internal face of said first corresponding wall.

 It also relates to a blank making it possible to obtain a tray as defined above.

 It finds a particularly important although not exclusive application in the field of storage and transport trays for fruits and vegetables, poultry and other food products which require resistant packaging, suitable for storage in a refrigerated medium which may have a degree of high humidity.

 Corrugated cardboard sheet trays are already known comprising a side wall belt and provided with corner pillars obtained by folding flaps fixed to said walls.

 I1 exists for example stackable trays (FR-A-2 584 375) provided with multiple support points, some of whose walls have a double thickness and reinforced corners.

 However, such trays do not have any reinforcement at the corner angles allowing an optimized resistance to vertical compression during stacking, nor an optimization of the consumption of cardboard while respecting the overall aesthetics of the packaging.

 The present invention aims to provide a tray and a blank of cardboard sheet material which respond better than those previously known to the requirements of practice, in particular in that it allows easy mounting from an optimized manufacturing blank, with low quantitative losses in cardboard, all to obtain a packaging having excellent mechanical resistance, in particular to compression, which manifests itself during stacking of full packaging. The trays obtained with the invention also have an aspect of finish and solidity which is particularly appreciated in the field of food processing.

 To this end, the invention proposes in particular a tray of the type described above, characterized in that each first flap is connected by a third fold line, double, parallel to the second fold lines, to a first rectangular tongue fixed on one face of the side wall, called the second wall, adjacent to said first wall or fixed to said first flap, said first tab being connected laterally, at an angle and in the direction of said first wall, to a second rectangular tab via a fourth fold line, said second tongue being extended via a fifth fold line, parallel to said wall, by a third rectangular tongue fixed to the internal face of said first wall, so that said first, second and third tongues form corner pillars.

 In advantageous embodiments, use is made of one and / or the other of the following arrangements - each first flap is fixed on the internal face of the second adjacent wall and the first rectangular tongue is fixed on the first Rabat; - Each first flap is fixed on the external face of the second adjacent wall and the first rectangular tab is fixed on the internal face of the second adjacent wall; each second flap comprises at least one rectangular tab precut over the entire width of the second flap, said tab forming an angle and being connected to the first wall of said second corresponding flap by a fold line and comprising a first portion forming a determined alpha angle with said first wall, a second portion diagonally inward and a third portion, of end integral with the internal face of said first wall; - The tray has two opposite tabs, forming an angle, located in the middle of the second corresponding flaps; - The first walls with flaps are higher than the second walls without flaps.

 The invention also provides a blank for forming a tray, comprising a rectangular central panel provided on each side with a rectangular flap, namely two opposite second flaps devoid of flaps and two opposite first flaps comprising flaps, namely first end flaps respectively connected on either side to the first corresponding flap by first fold lines and second flaps respectively connected to the longitudinal edges of the first corresponding flaps, by second double fold lines, said second flaps being suitable for being folded inwards from the plate once formed to be fixed to the faces of said respective first flaps, characterized in that at least part of the lateral edge of each first flap, situated on the side opposite to the second adjacent flap, is connected by a third fold line, double, parallel and in extension with the second fold lines of the second corresponding flap, to a first rectangular tab suitable for being fixed on said second flap or on said first flap, the lateral edge of said first tab located on the side of the second flap of said first corresponding flap, being connected at least in part of a second rectangular tongue by means of a fourth fold line perpendicular to the second fold lines, said second tongue being extended via a fifth fold line, parallel to the first fold lines, by a third rectangular tongue suitable for be fixed to the internal face of said first flap, so that said first, second and third tabs make it possible to form corner pillars when the blank is formed in a tray.

 In an advantageous embodiment, the second flaps have rectangular, opposite, precut tabs, located in the middle of said second flaps, of the type described above.

 Advantageously, the transverse dimension of the first flaps comprising flaps is greater than that of the second flaps devoid of flaps.

 The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, of the particular embodiments given by way of nonlimiting example.

 In the following description, the same reference numbers are used to designate the identical elements of the blank and the tray.

 FIGS. 1 and 2 show a tray or blank 1 of a sheet of double-sided corrugated cardboard, comprising a belt 2 of side walls or rectangular flaps 3, 4, 5, 6.

 The two opposite side walls 5, 6 called first walls, obtained from the first flaps, are connected on either side, by first fold lines 7, to rectangular end flaps 8, called first flaps, of same transverse dimension l as the adjacent walls 3 and 4.

 The first two walls 5 and 6 are also respectively connected in the upper part 10, by second fold lines 11, double, to second flaps 12, folded inwards and towards the bottom 13 of the plate.

 Each second flap is fixed to the internal face 14 of the first corresponding main side wall 5 or 6, by gluing, with cold or hot glue, for example known under the Anglo-Saxon name "hot melt".

 Each first flap 8 is connected by a third fold line 15, double, parallel to the second fold lines 11, located in the extension of the second line 11, to a first rectangular tongue 16 fixed on the internal face of the second wall 3 or 4.

 The first tongue 16 is connected laterally, at an angle, and in the direction of the corresponding first wall, to a second rectangular tongue 17 by means of a fourth fold line 18, parallel to the first fold 7 and perpendicular to the third fold line 15.

 The second tongue 17 is itself extended via a fifth fold line 19, parallel to the side wall 5 or 6, to a third rectangular tongue 20, for example of the same longitudinal dimensions (L3) as the rectangular tongue 17 (L2) and of slightly lower transverse dimensions (13 <12).

 This third rectangular tab is fixed on the internal face 14 of the wall to close the corner pillar 9, of triangular section.

 In the embodiment of the invention described with reference to Figures 1 and 2, each second flap 12 has a rectangular tab 21, central, precut over the entire width 22 of said second flaps, which therefore have two portions of rectangular flap , symmetrical with respect to the leg.

 The tab 21, for example of width equal to one fifth of the longitudinal dimension of the flaps, is arranged to form an angle iron 23.

 It is connected to the corresponding flap by a fold line 24 and comprises a first rectangular portion 25, forming an angle for example between 900 and 950 with the first main wall.

 The first portion 25 is connected by a fold line to a second portion 26, at an angle towards the first wall, extended by a third portion 27, at the end of the tab, integral with the internal face of the main screw wall. screw, for example by gluing.

 The fold line 24 is in line with the second line 11, the innermost with respect to the plate, at the junction between the side flap 5,6 and the corresponding second flap 12.

 More precisely, with reference to FIG. 2, the blank comprises a panel 13, rectangular, central, which will form the bottom 13 of the plate, side flaps forming the wall 3, 4, 5 and 6, opposite in pairs, the flaps 3 and 4 being devoid of flap and the flaps 5 and 6 having first and second flaps such as those just described.

 In the first embodiment which has just been described, the transverse dimension 1 of the first flaps is equal to the transverse dimension l of the flaps 3 and 4.

 By transverse dimension is meant the distance existing between the outer edge of the flap or the flap, located opposite the bottom 13, and the fold line which connects the flap or the flap to said bottom.

 The longitudinal dimension h measured between the edge 28 of the lateral end of the flap, free, located on the side of the flap without flap, and the first line of the third fold line 11, double, is equal to the transverse dimension of the first flap 5.

 In the mode described L = i.

 The first tab 16 is for its transverse dimension 11 less than the dimension i of the first flap to which it is attached by the double fold line 15, double line which allows to recover the thickness of the wall of the tray during folding.

 The transverse dimension 12 of the second tongue is arranged to allow the formation of the corner pillar. 12 = (i) x -.

 The transverse dimension 13 of the third tab is for example equal to half or a third of the dimension it.

 The first flap 8 and tongues 16, 17, 20 assembly, seen from above, has a U-shape, one of the branches of which is constituted by the first flap and the other by the succession of tongues, with 1 <11 + 12 +13.

 The upper line of the branch of the U forming the first flap is connected to the first corresponding flap 5, by a fold line. The upper line, offset, of the other branch of the U, is free, for example, at a distance of a few millimeters, from the lateral edge 29 of the second flap 12.

 FIG. 3 shows another embodiment of a plate 1 'according to the invention, comprising first walls 5', 6 'of larger transverse dimensions, than the side walls 3' and 4 'bonded to the external faces of said first flaps.

 The plate 1 ′ may for example include stacking pins 30, for example two series of two stacking pins located at the second fold lines 11 ′ of the second flaps 12 ′.

 The pins of each series are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of the body, in line with the third tabs 20 '.

 They are arranged to come to nest in recesses 31 provided at the fold lines 32 of connection between the bottom 13 'of the plate and its side walls 5' and 6 '.

 FIGS. 4 and 5 show two embodiments for fixing the first flaps to the second adjacent walls.

 More precisely, FIGS. 4 and 4A show a plate angle according to the invention, of the type shown with reference to FIG. 3.

 The first flap 8 is fixed on the internal face 33 of the second adjacent side wall 4, the first rectangular tongue 16 being fixed, after folding, on the first flap 8 by gluing, the second and third tongues 17 and 20 forming then the rest of the corner pillar as described above.

 The flaps 12 are in turn folded inwards, glued to the internal face of the first wall 6 and are located in the extension of the plane of the third tongue 20, for example contiguous with the end edge 34 or entirely at distance from said edge.

 FIGS. 5 and 5A represent another embodiment of the formation of the corner pillar, corresponding to that shown in FIG. 1.

 Each first flap 8 is here fixed on the external face 35 of the second side wall 4.

 The first tongue 16 comes, after folding (double folds 11) above the upper edge 36 of the wall 4, to be applied by gluing to the internal face 33 of the wall 4.

 The second and third tabs are fixed in the same way as above.

 We will now describe with reference to Figures 1 and 2, the method of mounting the corresponding plate.

 From a blank 1, flat previously glued in the necessary places, for example by lines or points of cold glue or "hot melt", the bottom 13 being horizontal, the side flaps 5 are folded back and 6 to make them vertical.

 The flaps 12 are also folded over and glued to the internal faces of the walls 5 and 6, the tongues 21 being pinched so as to form the central angles 23.

 The second walls 3 and 4 are then raised at the vetricale, then the first flaps 8 folded around the vertical fold lines 7 and pressed for gluing on the external face 35 of the walls 3 and 4, at right angles.

 The first tabs 16 are then folded around their double fold line 11 above the edge 36 and glued to the internal face of the second flaps or walls 3 and 4.

 Then the tongues 17 and 20 are folded perpendicularly, for example by lateral depression by pressing on the tongue 17 in the diagonal direction of the plate, to form the pillars of angles, the third tongue being glued to the internal face of the wall 6 , to the right of the lateral external edge 29 of the second flap 12 shown in the figure.

 As is obvious and as it follows from the above, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments more particularly described.

 On the contrary, it embraces all the variants and in particular those where several angles 23 are provided for example on two different sides of the plate, those where the longitudinal dimension of the second and third tongues is smaller than that of the first tongue (L2 and / or L3 <L1).

Claims (10)

 1. Tray (1, 1 ') of cardboard sheet material comprising a bottom (13, 13') and a belt (2) of walls (3, 4, 5, 6; 3 3 ', 4' 5 '6 ') main sides, including two opposite side walls, called first walls (5, 6; 5', 6 ') respectively connected on either side by first fold lines (7) to flaps (8) of end, called first flaps, participating in the constitution of corner pillars by folding, said first walls being connected at the top by second fold lines (11; 11), double, to second flaps (12) folded towards the interior of the plate and fixed on the internal face (14) of said first corresponding wall, characterized in that each first flap (8) is connected by a third fold line (15), double, parallel to the second fold lines ( 11; il '), to a first rectangular tongue (16) fixed on a face (33, 35) of the side wall, called the second wall (3, 4; 3', 4 '), adjacent to said first wall or on said first flap (8), said first tongue (16) being connected laterally, at an angle and in the direction of said first wall, to a second rectangular tongue (17) by means of a fourth fold line (18), said second tongue being extended via a fifth fold line (19), parallel to said wall, by a third rectangular tongue (20) fixed on the internal face of said first wall, so that said first, second and third tabs form corner pillars.  2. Tray according to claim 1, characterized in that each first flap (8) is fixed on the internal face (33) of the second adjacent wall and the first rectangular tongue is fixed on said first flap.  3. Tray according to claim 1, characterized in that each first flap (8) is fixed on the external face (35) of the second adjacent wall and the first rectangular tongue (16) is fixed on the internal face (33) of the second adjacent wall.  4. Tray according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each second flap (12) comprises at least one rectangular tab (21) precut over the entire width of the second flap, said tab forming an angle (23) and being connected to the first wall of said second flap corresponding by a fold line (24) and comprising a first portion (25) forming a determined angle with said first wall, a second portion (26) diagonally inward and a third portion ( 27), end secured to the internal face (14) of said first wall.  5. Tray according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the tray has two opposite tongues (21), forming an angle, located in the middle of the second second flaps (12) corresponding.  6. Tray according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first walls (5 ', 6') having flaps, are higher than the second walls (3 ', 4') devoid of flaps.  7. A blank (1) for forming a tray, comprising a central rectangular panel (13) provided on each side with a rectangular flap (3, 4, 5, 6), namely two second flaps (3, 4) opposite without flaps and two first flaps (5, 6) opposite comprising flaps, namely first flaps (8) end respectively connected on either side to the first corresponding flap by first fold lines ( 7) and second flaps (12) respectively connected to the longitudinal edges of the first corresponding flaps, by second fold lines (11), double, said second flaps being adapted to be folded inwardly of the tray once formed to be fixed on the faces (14) of said respective first flaps, characterized in that at least part of the lateral edge of each first flap, situated on the side opposite to the adjacent second flap (3, 4), is connected by a third fold line (15), double, parallel and in the extension with the second fold lines (11) of the second corresponding flap, to a first rectangular tongue (16) suitable for being fixed on said second flap or on said first flap, the lateral edge of said first tongue being located from the side of the second flap of said first corresponding flap, being connected at least in part to a second rectangular tongue (17) via a fourth fold line (18) perpendicular to the second fold lines, said second tongue being extended via a fifth fold line (19), parallel to the first fold lines (7), by a third rectangular tongue (20) suitable for being fixed on the internal face (14) of said first flap, so that said first, second and third tabs make it possible to form corner pillars when the blank is formed into a tray.  8. Blank according to claim 7, characterized in that each second flap (12) comprises at least one rectangular tab (21) precut over the entire width of said second flaps, said tab being arranged to form an angle iron (23), being connected to the corresponding flap by a fold line (24) and comprising a first portion (25) connected by a fold line to a second portion (26) and a third portion (27), of end adapted to be made integral with the internal face (14) of said first wall.  9. Blank according to claim 7, characterized in that the second flaps (12) have tabs (21) rectangular, opposite, precut, located in the middle of said second flaps.  10. Blank according to any one of claims 7 to 9, characterized in that the transverse dimension of the first flaps (5, 6) having flaps, is larger than that of the second flaps (3, 4) devoid of flap.
