Abstract

A surrounding frame for a glass door or window is made from hollow extrusions with T-section edge channels (1, 2) in which the glass if fixed with a suitable adhesive, such as that used for sticking car windscreens to bodywork. The lateral recesses (11, 11') in the channels are used for lengthwise seals to retain the adhesive and also for fitting the heads of metal or plastic connectors (3) for fixinf extrusions at right angles to one another. The connectors are also fitted with a suitable adhesive.

Description

  In a previous request, the depositor had proposed a product consisting of a glass door, or a window in

  glass, provided with edges in special profiles. This product is parti-

  particularly interesting if you want to use a laminated glass. Indeed, it allows the mounting of the hinges, locks, and other accessories, which is practically impossible on a laminated glass door, the realization of notches being impossible in this type of glass. In the case of tempered glass doors, it avoids the need for indentations in the

  glass, intended for the installation of hinges, locks, and other accessories

  evenings. And finally this product is much less expensive than conventional doors having a support structure in profile, said

  structure receiving a glass put in place using rubber seals-

  Continuing the development of this product, the applicant has developed new profiles which make it possible, as in the product mentioned above, to make a profile border forming a frame, and, at the same time, a new method of assembly to angles, which uses staples, or new dowels, the shape of the profile allowing both the establishment of these staples and the bonding of the profile on the edges of the glass sheet. Finally, to avoid glue burrs between the profiles and the glass sheet, the applicant has provided a special rod, which cooperates with the

shape of the profile groove.

The mounting of the hinges on one side or the other of the door allows the same hinge to be mounted in a frame both for opening on the right and for opening on the left. This

  FIG. 3 represents a staple, or dowel, 3 the head 31 of which has a shape and a dimension suitable for enabling it to be threaded into the T-shaped groove of a profile according to FIG. 1, or of a profile according to the Figure 2. This allows to position such a clip as well at one or the other of the ends of the profiles to achieve a corner assembly, as at any point of a

  profile, for mounting an intermediate cross member for example.

We therefore understand that it is possible to form a border framing a glass, only by means of profiles according to Figure 2. But we have provided profiles according to Figure 1 for two reasons: the first is that these profiles, comprising a housing hollow of -6- maximum dimension behind the groove 1 allowing to accommodate a

  mortise lock, and having a minimum metal weight.

  The profile according to Figure 2 by its symmetrical shape, and the presence of a central central housing allows the installation of hinges, and this, because of its symmetry, both on one side and the other, this that would not allow the profile according to Figure 1 too hollow. In other words, these profiles according to FIG. 2 make it possible to produce, in the case of a door, the vertical upright carrying the hinges, as well as the top and bottom crosspieces of the frame, while the profile according to FIG. 1 makes it possible to produce the vertical upright carrying the door frame lock. However, it should be noted that it is possible, if desired in

  special cases of forming a framework with four profi-

  strips according to FIG. 2, but that a profile according to FIG. 1 cannot

  be assembled only with a profile according to figure 2.

  Figure 6 shows the installation of hinges 7 on a

  profile according to FIG. 2. The hinges according to the invention are cons-

Claims   1.
