Abstract

A reinforced tray produced by erecting a single suitably cut and scored cardboard blank. The tray includes a bottom wall (2) surrounded by four side walls (3, 4) of which at least one is provided, at its upper edge, with an extension (10) folded down to form a lining and reinforcing element over at least part of the height of said wall. The lining extension (10) comprises a projecting portion (32) intermediate the side ends thereof for use as a stacking reinforcement and/or supporting member. Said projecting portion consists of a flap cut out of said extension (10) and connected thereto along a fold line (21). The flap is provided with inner parallel fold lines that divide it into at least three sections enabling it to be erected and held in shape by securing one of said sections (27) to the side wall (4) that includes said lining extension (10).

Description

 The present invention relates to the field of packaging. It relates more particularly to the cardboard or material of the same type trays, consisting of a bottom bordered by four side walls and which are provided with reinforcing means to increase their resistance and / or support means to allow and stabilize the stacking. for stacking.

 There are many different types of trays suitable for packaging a wide variety of products, such as fruits and vegetables.

 During the design of these plates, it is sought to obtain the highest possible vertical resistance, while limiting the material cost.

 The present invention proposes a new type of tray which presents a good compromise between these two requirements.

 This tray is of the type obtained by placing in volume a single blank of cardboard suitably cut and creased.

 I1 comprises a bottom bordered by four side walls; at least one of these walls is provided, at its upper edge, with a folded extension to form a lining and reinforcement element over at least part of its height.

According to the invention, the doubling extension comprises, between its lateral ends, at least one projecting element serving as a reinforcing member and / or support for stacking. This projecting element is formed from a flap cut in the doubling extension and which is attached to the latter or to the side wall which it extends, by a fold line. This flap is also provided with internal fold lines which divide it into at least three sections to allow it to be set in volume and to be held by joining one of said sections with the side wall which carries the doubling extension.

 According to another preferred arrangement, the plate has two opposite side walls provided with doubling extensions. These doubling extensions are folded down internally and they are each provided with at least one reinforcing element and / or support for stacking, which extends projecting into the interior packaging volume.

 Preferably, the lining extension or extensions extend over the entire height of the receiving side walls.

 According to another characteristic, the doubling extensions are provided with lateral extensions which are presented in at least two parts separated by fold lines and which are intended to form cut sides in the corners of the plate.

 According to a preferred embodiment, the projecting element or elements are in the form of vertical posts which extend over the entire height of the adjoining side wall. The base of the vertical post (s) may advantageously include a bias cut, forming a truncation, to increase the packaging volume.

 According to another characteristic, the tray comprises lugs and / or stacking angles which extend from its upper edge, associated with corresponding openings, arranged in the bottom and in the side walls. At least one of these stacking pins is cut in the folding bridge which connects the side wall and its lining extension. The width of the doubling bridge can be adapted according to the desired height of the stacking lugs.

 According to another embodiment, the projecting element or elements are in the form of a horizontal post, one of the faces of which extends from the upper edge of the adjoining side wall, parallel to the bottom.

 According to a preferred characteristic, the reinforcement and / or support posts for stacking, whether horizontal or vertical, have a triangular cross section.

 The invention also relates to the cardboard blank suitably cut and creased, making it possible to obtain a tray model defined above.

 The cardboard blank 1 which is shown in FIG. 1 comprises a bottom element 2 of generally rectangular shape, bordered by two small end side walls 3 and by two longitudinal side walls 4. The small end walls 3 are connected at the bottom 2 by the fold lines 5. The longitudinal walls 4 are connected to the bottom 2 by means of the fold lines 6.

 The small end walls 3 and the longitudinal walls 4 have a substantially identical height.

 The longitudinal walls 4 are provided with lateral flaps 8 connected by a fold line 9. Their outer edge has an end extension 10 connected by a fold bridge 11 consisting of two parallel fold lines. The end extension 10 extends over practically the entire length of the longitudinal walls 4. On the sides, it has lateral extensions 14 connected by fold lines 15 which extend perpendicular to the fold bridges 11.

The lateral extensions 14 consist of a first flap 16 and a second flap 17 separated by a fold line 18. The fold line 18 extends parallel to the fold line 15 which connects the end extension 10 and the lateral extension 14. The first flaps 16 of the lateral extensions 14 are arranged in the extension of the fold lines 9 which connect the longitudinal walls 4 and their lateral flaps 8.

Thus, the fold lines 15 and 18 are located on either side of said fold lines 9.

 Between the two fold lines 15, the end extension 10 comprises a substantially central flap 20.

The shutter 20 is partially cut over the entire height of the extension 10 to which it is connected only by the fold line 21. The cutting of the shutter 20 'forms a
L consisting of a first cutting line 22 located on the folding bridge 11 and a second cutting line 23, perpendicular, which extends over the entire height of the extension 10. The second cutting line 23 extends from one of the ends of the first cutting line 22; it is parallel to the fold lines 15 which connect the extension 10 to the lateral extensions 14, as well as to the fold line 21 which connects the flap 20 to the end extension 10. This fold line 21 extends from the other end of the first cutting line 22.

 On the other hand, the flap 20 is divided into three sections 25, 26 and 27, separated by internal fold lines 28 and 29 which extend parallel to the fold line 21 and to the second cutting line 23.

 The first section 25 is located between the fold lines 21 and 28; the second section 26 is located between the fold lines 28 and 29; the third section 27 is located between the fold line 29 and the second cut line 23.

 In addition, we note the presence of a triangular cutout 30 on the two sections 25 and 26 of the flap 20. The base of this triangular cutout 30 is located on the outer edge of the end extension 10; this cutout 30 extends from the fold lines 21 and 29; its point is located on the fold line 28 and its height corresponds substantially to two thirds of the height of the end extension 10.

 The blank 1 is preferably made of corrugated cardboard. The end extensions 10 are intended to form lining elements to reinforce the longitudinal walls 4 and the flaps 20 are adapted to form protruding elements in the interior packaging volume to serve as a reinforcement and / or support member. for stacking, after setting in volume.

 The cardboard blank 1 is placed in volume manually or mechanically, to obtain the tray illustrated in FIG. 2.

 This setting in volume is carried out by placing the side walls 3 and 4 substantially perpendicular to the bottom 2 and by joining the flaps 8 which extend the longitudinal walls 4 with the small end walls 3.

 Preferably, the outer face of the flaps 8 is secured to the inner face of the small walls 3, by suitable bonding means.

 Simultaneously, or later, the end extensions 10 are folded inwards and they are secured to the internal face of the longitudinal walls 4 to double the latter. This joining is carried out between the fold lines 15 and 21, on the one hand, and between the fold line 15 and the cutting line 23, on the other hand.

 The lateral extensions 14 are placed at the corners of the plate; they are arranged to form dihedral angles or cut sides, with the first flap 16 disposed at an angle and the second flap 17 plated and secured to the internal face of the flap 8 or to the internal face of the small end wall 3.

 The central flap 20 is itself set in volume to form a vertical post 32 with a triangular cross section. The vertical posts 32 are produced by the juxtaposition of the two sections 25 and 26 of the flaps 20 arranged in dihedrons. The third section 27 serves as an attachment tab to maintain the volume of the projecting elements 32; it is secured to the longitudinal wall 4, either via its internal face, as shown in FIG. 2, or via its external face, if it is folded back to form the bottom of post 32.

The volume of the two sections 25 and 26 of the flaps 20 generates a small spacing 33 between the two parts of the end extensions 10 which are separated by the cutting line 23.

 The vertical posts 32 extend over the entire height of the longitudinal walls 4; associated with the lining extensions 10, they form effective reinforcing elements to impart good vertical resistance to the plate. On the other hand, the upper part of the vertical posts 32 projecting inside the packaging volume and it forms an effective seat member for supporting a second superimposed plate. This seat is further improved by the presence of flaps 16 arranged at an angle in the corners of the plate.

 The cut 30 made in the flaps 20 of the cardboard blank 1 makes it possible to obtain a truncation 34 at the base of the posts 32. This truncation 34 allows a little space to be freed up to increase the packaging volume; it can also be used as a wedge for packaged products.

 To increase the vertical resistance of the tray, the corrugated cardboard blank will be suitably oriented so that its grooves are arranged vertically on the longitudinal walls 4, on the lining extensions 10 and on the vertical posts 32.

 On the cardboard blank which is represented in FIG. 1, it is noted that the two flaps 20 cut out in the lining extensions 10 are oriented in opposite directions to one another. This particular orientation makes it possible to obtain a sort of diagonal symmetry which avoids unbalancing the plate. For certain embodiments, they may be oriented in the same direction.

 In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, the lining elements 10 extend over the entire height of the longitudinal walls 4 and they include cut out flaps 20 which allow vertical posts 32 to be obtained. These posts 32 extend over the entire height of said longitudinal walls 4.

For other embodiments, the location, the number and the shape of the vertical posts may vary without departing from the protective framework defined by the claims.

Thus, one can provide a vertical post on each longitudinal wall, these two posts being off-center with respect to each other. Also, several posts may be fitted on each longitudinal wall, produced from a plurality of identical or similar flaps 20 cut along the length of the lining extensions 10. On the other hand, the lining extensions 10 and / or the posts adjoining verticals 32 may extend only over part of the height of the longitudinal walls 4.

 FIG. 3 shows a tray set in volume which has a structure very close to that illustrated in FIG. 2.

 This plate consists of a bottom 2 bordered by four side walls: two small end walls 3 and two large longitudinal walls 4. The two large longitudinal walls 4 have extensions 10 which, when folded down, define lining elements . These extensions 10 include lateral extensions 14 arranged to form cut sides in the corners of the plate; they also include partially cut out flaps which make it possible to obtain vertical posts 32.

 This plate further comprises stacking studs 35 which project from the upper edge of the longitudinal walls 4. These studs 35 are associated with embedding orifices 36 arranged in correspondence in the bottom 2 and in said walls. longitudinal 4. The stacking lugs 35 are cut in the folding bridge 11 which connects the longitudinal walls 4 and their lining extensions 10.

Their height is therefore closely linked to the thickness of this folding bridge 11.

 In the embodiment shown in Figure 3, the pins 35 are arranged at the vertical posts 32; they could similarly be provided between the posts 32 and the ends of the plate.

 Still in FIG. 3, corner angles 38 are provided associated with orifices 39 arranged in correspondence in the corners. These angles 38 and orifices 39 complete the stabilization of the plates when they are stacked. The height of the angles 38 corresponds to the thickness of the folding bridge 11. Optionally, one of the wings of the angle angles can be omitted.

At the level of the embedding orifices 36, we note the presence of a cutout 37 arranged perpendicularly in the bottom 2. This cutout 37 allows the angle angles of the underlying plates to be embedded. It is thus possible to form stacking combinations with trays of the same dimensions but offset, with smaller trays, or with trays of a different nature and constitution.

 Figures 4 and 5 illustrate another embodiment of a reinforced plate according to the present invention. The corrugated cardboard blank 40 shown in FIG. 4 consists of a bottom 41 bordered by four side walls: two small end walls 42 and two large longitudinal walls 43. The two large longitudinal walls 43 extend laterally by flaps 44 consisting of three juxtaposed flaps 45, 46 and 47.

At their outer edge, the longitudinal walls 43 have extensions 48 which extend substantially over their entire length and which are connected by a folding bridge 49. The folding bridge 49 consists of two parallel folding lines.

 Laterally, the extensions 48 include extensions 50 in two flaps 51 and 52. The lateral extensions 50 are connected to the extensions 48 by means of fold lines 53; the two flaps 51 and 52 are separated by a fold line 54 parallel to the fold line 53.

 Between the lateral extensions 50, the extensions 48 comprise a partially cut-out flap 56, connected to the longitudinal walls 43 by means of a fold line 57. This fold line 57 is located on the fold bridge 49. The flaps 56 are delimited by two cut lines 58 which extend from the ends of the fold line 57, perpendicular to the latter. The cutting lines 58 extend over the entire height of the extensions 48; they are parallel to each other and parallel to the fold lines 53 which connect the extensions 48 to their lateral extensions 50.

 On the other hand, each flap 56 is separated into three juxtaposed sections 60, 61 and 62 by means of two internal fold lines 63 and 64 which extend parallel to the fold line 57.

 The cardboard blank 40 is made up by erecting the lateral walls 42 and 43 substantially perpendicular to the bottom 41 and by joining the lateral extensions 44 with the internal face of the small end walls 42. Preferably, the lateral extensions 44 are folded to form triangular cross-section beams at the corners of the plate.

 The extensions 48 are folded down internally and they are secured to the internal face of the longitudinal walls 43 on either side of the flap 56. The first flap 51 of the lateral extensions 50 is placed at an angle and secured to the second flap 46 of the extensions 44 ; on the other hand, the internal face of the flaps 52 is secured to the internal face of the small end walls 42.

 In the central part of the lining extensions 48, the flaps 56 are set in volume to form horizontal posts 65 with a triangular cross section. Their flap 60 which is integral with the longitudinal walls 43 extends projecting towards the inside of the plate; it is arranged substantially parallel to the bottom 41. The second flap 61 serves as a support or bracing element and the third flap 62 is secured to the internal face of the longitudinal wall 43 to maintain the volume.

 The mounted tray shown in FIG. 5 is obtained with the corner reinforcements and the horizontal posts 65 which serve as reinforcement and / or support for a second directly superimposed tray.

 For this latter embodiment, it is also possible to provide tenons and / or stacking angles making it possible to stabilize the stacks. These tenons or angles can be taken in the thickness of the folding bridge 49; the tenons can also be taken from the sections 60 of the partially cut flaps 56.

 On the other hand, the horizontal posts 65 can take any position between the fold lines 53 which connect the extensions 48 and their lateral extensions 50. Also, several posts 65 can be fitted on each longitudinal wall 43.

 The reference signs inserted after the technical characteristics mentioned in the claims are intended only to facilitate the understanding of the latter and in no way limit their scope.
