Abstract

The door frame consists of two jambs (12), a lintel and outer horizontal members (20), all made from sheet metal components. The jambs and lintel are pre-assembled in a workshop so they are ready for installation in a doorway. The lower ends of the jambs are equipped with screw jacks (25) which enable their height to be adjusted before the floor is made up. Each screw jack comprises a plate (26) which fits into a horizontal member (20). It also has a threaded vertical rod (28) and a nut (29) which thrusts against the underside of a bracket (32) inside the jamb. The screw jack is concealed inside the jamb and is invisible once the floor has been made up.
