Abstract

Internal electrical connections are terminated, on female connectors (210), within a multi-way socket (200) pushed, from within through an opening (104) in the lamp case wall (102), until the broader socket base (204) meets the wall's inner face. A flexible peripheral lip (206) seals the base to the case, resilient catches (208) on the socket preventing withdrawal. The socket is thus trapped within an open-topped turret (106) on the case outer wall. The external connections (308) are terminated on pins (306) fixed in a plug (302). These are aligned with the socket connectors, and the circuits are completed by pressing the plug down on the socket, with its outer skirt (304) enclosing the turret, till an inner sealing ring (400) is compressed against the bevelled rim (106a) of the turret.
