Abstract

The hook comprises hanging means (5) and a hairpin spring (6) designed so that, after it is inserted into and compressed by the hollow body (2) it is subjected to an expansion force and grips the wall (3) of the hollow body (2). The hook further includes a handle for compressing the hairpin spring (6), this handle being designed to project outside of the hollow body (2). The invention applies particularly to exhaust mufflers.

Description

HOLLOW BODY SUSPENSION HOOK
The present invention relates to a hook for hanging a hollow body, such as an exhaust pipe or silencer. Must be assimilated to a hollow body, within the meaning of the present application, any body provided with at least two wall portions, flat or not, substantially facing one another and between which expandable means, for example two double hairpin branches, articulated elastically to one another, can be compressed, constrained towards each other, in the case of the branches referred to above, and thus secured to the hollow body.

Such a suspension hook can be used to suspend an exhaust silencer on a sales display.

A hook for hanging a hollow body is already known, comprising suspension means and expandable means arranged to, after introduction into and compression by the hollow body, be subjected to an expansion force and grip the wall of the body hollow.

More specifically, the hook of the prior art comprises two hairpin branches articulated elastically to one another, one, for attachment, with one end arranged for, under the reaction of the expansion caused by the compression action of the assembly, gripping part of the wall of the hollow body, the other branch, of suspension, being intended to bear against another part of the wall of the hollow body and being provided with a suspension end intended to remain protruding from the hollow body.

The major drawback of such a hook is that, after the hooking branch has been inserted into the hollow body, it can no longer be released from the hollow body without being damaged.

The present invention aims to overcome this drawback.

To this end, it relates to a hook of the type mentioned above, characterized in that it further comprises means for compressing the expanding means arranged to protrude from the hollow body, therefore accessible and maneuverable after introduction of the expandable means in the hollow body.

Thanks to the invention, the hook can therefore be easily disengaged from the hollow body.

Advantageously, the means for compressing the expandable means are integrated with the expandable means and the suspension means are integrated with the expandable means.

Preferably, the expandable means, the compression means and the suspension means are formed in one piece.

In the preferred embodiment, the hook of the invention consists of a single wire shaped as an expandable spring pin with two branches, one for hooking to the wall of the hollow body, one for pressing against the wall of the body. hollow. In this case, the support branch can be extended into a suspension head and the attachment branch comprise an intermediate compression portion, between its attachment end and the support branch, folded back on itself in a pin or operating loop arranged to bring the attachment end closer to the support branch.

The hook of invention 1 is here represented in connection with an exhaust silencer 2 represented naturally partially torn off. This silencer is a hollow body, in this case tubular with an internal wall 3.

The hook 1 consists of a thick, single wire 4 folded, substantially in a single plane, in different places to form a suspension head 5, extended by a double expandable pin 6 with a compression handle 7 and a spout attachment end 8.

The suspension head 5 here has a rectangular shape corresponding substantially to that of a bar to which the hook must be suspended. The pin part 6, consisting of an intermediate portion of the wire 4 folded back on itself around a node 9 and forming a spring, comprises two branches 10, 11. The first branch 10 is extended by the suspension head 5 .

The second branch 11 ends with the hooking spout 8 with a front end edge 12 provided, owing to the relatively large cross section of the wire 4, with a peripheral edge 13 by forming a cutting edge which can grip the relatively soft inner wall 3 of the silencer 2.

Between the node 9 and the hooking beak 8, the branch 11 comprises a pin or loop part folded back on itself, therefore integrated into the branch 11, forming the compression handle 7 and extending substantially up to the level of the suspension head 5. The use of the suspension hook will now be described.

An operator introduces the hook into the silencer 2 through the node 9 of the spring pin 6. As the internal diameter of the silencer 2 is smaller than the distance from the hooking spout 8 to the branch 10 extended by the head 5, the pin 6 is compressed by the internal wall 3 of the silencer and its two branches 10, 11 constrained towards one another, the branch 10 bearing against a first strip of the internal wall 3 of the silencer and the edge of attachment 12 of the spout 8 of the branch 11, due to the expansion force of the spring pin 6, gripping a second strip, substantially diametrically opposite the first, of the internal wall 3 of the silencer. The introduction of the hook into the silencer is carried out to a depth such that the suspension head 5 naturally protrudes out of the silencer but also a part of the compression handle 7 which must remain accessible and maneuverable.

To remove the hook 1 from the silencer 2, the operator, as illustrated in FIG. 2, need only grasp the branch 10 and the handle 7 with one hand, compress the pin and therefore constrain the branch 6 and the handle 7 towards each other, in order to disengage the hooking spout 8 from the internal wall 3 of the silencer and to come out of support the branch 10.

Hook for hanging a hollow body (2), comprising  suspension means (5) and means  expandable (6) arranged for, after introduction into  and compression by the hollow body (2), be subjected to  an expansion force and grip (13) on the wall  (3) of the hollow body (2), characterized in that it  further comprises means (7) for compressing the  expandable means (6) arranged to protrude  outside the hollow body (2). 2. Suspension hook according to claim 1, in  which means (7) for compressing the means  expandable (6) are integrated into the expandable means  (6). 3. Hanging hook according to one of claims  1 and 2, in which the suspension means (5) are  integrated with expandable means (6). 4. Hanging hook according to one of claims  1 to 3, in which the expandable means (6), the  compression means (7) and the suspension means  (5) are formed in one piece (4). 5. Hook according to one of the claims  1 to 4, in which the hook (1) consists of a  single wire (4) shaped as an expanding spring pin  (6) with two branches (10, 11). 6. Hanging hook according to claim 5, in  which one of the branches is a branch (11)  for hooking to the wall (3) of the hollow body (2). 7. Hanging hook according to claim 6, in  which the other of the branches is a branch (10)  bearing against the wall (3) of the hollow body (2). 8. Hanging hook according to claim 7, in  which the support branch (10) is extended in one  suspension head (5). 9. Hanging hook according to one of claims  6 to 8, in which the attachment branch (11)  has a part (7) folded back on itself and  forming a compression handle arranged for  constrain the two branches (10, 11) towards one  the other.
