Abstract

The invention relates to an interception valve. According to the invention, it comprises a housing (2), a handle (4) angularly movable between an open valve position and a closed valve position, a fixed arc (6) integral with the housing (2), having respective free ends (7, 8) which constitute end-of-travel stops for a movable arc (15) integral with the handle (4), two locks (16, 17) supported by the handle (4), each lock (16, 17) being intended to engage respectively with a free end (8, 7) of the fixed arc (6) when the movable arc (15) is engaged with the other free end (7, 8). The invention makes it possible in particular to improve the safety and reliability of use of the valves.

Description

The present invention relates to an interception valve, of the type

  comprising a housing and an angularly displaceable handle about an axis, between an open valve position and a closed valve position, and a fixed arc integral with the housing, having opposite free ends which constitute angular end stops for a movable bow secured to the handle when the latter is in the open valve position and closed valve. Valves of this type, generally made of suitable plastics, are installed in large numbers in industrial plants where liquid pipes of all kinds

  example in the field of chemical installations.

  The manipulation of the handle of such valves, intended to close and open the pipes on which the valves are installed for the passage of the liquid, is performed manually according to the various requirements of

installation.

  Although satisfactory on many aspects and widely used, such valves are subject to the risk of inadvertent manipulation of the

  handle, from people or objects in transit in the vicinity.

  Such a disadvantage can be mitigated, but not completely eliminated, in the case where the valves are manufactured so that handling the handle requires a substantially high effort. Such a proposal is however not viable in practice, since it would obviously result in an increase in fatigue during handling operations of the handle, especially in places where valves require

frequent manipulations.

  The object of the present invention is to design a valve of the aforementioned type, which has structural and functional characteristics such that

  the aforementioned drawback is avoided.

  This object is achieved by means of a valve of the aforementioned type, which is characterized in that it comprises at least one latch supported by the handle and adapted to engage with one of said free ends of the fixed arc.

  The bottom 10 is secured to a tubular collar 14, of axis X-X, of which a

moving bow 15 protrudes.

  The free ends 7 and 8 of the fixed arc 6 constitute angular end stops for the movable arc 15, when the handle is respectively in the open valve position and in the position of

closed valve.

  The valve 1 according to the invention comprises two latches 16 and 17, supported by the handle 4, said latches being intended to engage respectively with the free ends 8 and 7 when the handle 4 is respectively in the open valve position and in the position of

closed valve.

  In particular, when the handle 4 is in the open valve position, it remains angularly locked in position due to the engagement of the movable arc 15 with the free end 7, and because of the simultaneous engagement of the

  lock 16 with the free end 8.

  In exactly the same way, when the handle 4 is in the closed valve position, it remains angularly blocked because of the engagement of the movable arc 15 with the free end 8, and because of

  the simultaneous engagement of the latch 17 with the free end 7.

  Each latch 16, 17 is urged permanently towards the fixed arc 6 by elastic means 18, and is provided with gripping means 19, for

  its manual control in opposition with said elastic means.

  In particular each lock is materialized by a rod 20, having an axis a-a parallel to the axis X-X, guided in the collar 14 and secured to a blade 21, arranged in a plane perpendicular to the axis a-a and extending

transversely.

  The blade 21 has an end portion 21a adapted to be housed in the recess 13 and an opposite end position 21b which protrudes from the

  handle through an opening 22 in the side wall 1.

  A leaf spring 23, which constitutes said elastic means 18, is fixed at one of its ends to the end portion 21a of the blade 21. The other end of the leaf spring is at a distance from the blade and occupies the opening

  22, in opposition against the wall 11 of the hull.

  A knob 24, which constitutes said gripping means 19, is wedged

  on the end portion 2 lb of the blade 21.

  As regards the operation, when the handle 4 moves angularly to move from the open valve position to the closed valve position, and vice versa, the head of the rods engages with the surface 6 a of

  the fixed arc 6, said rods both remaining in a raised position.

  When the handle 4 reaches the closed valve (or valve open) position, the latch rod 17 (or 16) moves to a lowered position, under the action of the leaf spring, and engages with the end 7 (or 8) of the fixed arc 6 The handle thus remains locked in the closed (or open) valve position. In order to be able to further manipulate the handle, and carry it from the closed (or open) valve position to the open (or closed) valve position it is necessary to manually actuate the knob 24 of the latch 17

  (or 16), to release the rod 20 of the free end 7 (or 8).

  The main advantage of the valve according to the present invention lies in

  improved safety and reliability of use.

  Another advantage of the invention is to adapt it to existing valves and already in operation, simply replacing the existing handle by a handle with locks. The valve according to the invention is of simple structure, which is not the least of the advantages for an article that must be manufactured in large or in very

big series.

  1 interception valve, of the type comprising a housing (2) and a handle (4) angularly displaceable about an axis (XX), between an open valve position and a closed valve position, a fixed arc (6) integral with the housing (2), having opposite free ends (7, 8) which constitute angular end stops for a movable arc (15) integral with the handle (4), when the latter is in the position of open valve and closed valve, characterized in that it comprises at least one latch (16, 17) supported by the handle (4) adapted to engage with one of said free ends (8, 7) of the fixed arc (6) when the movable arc (15) is engaged with the other end free (7, 8).   2 valve according to claim 1, characterized in that the latch (16, 17) is permanently biased by elastic means (18) towards the fixed arc (6) and is provided with gripping means (19) for its order   manual in opposition with said elastic means (18).   3 valve according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the locks (16, 17) are two in number, each of the locks being adapted to engage respectively with a free end (8, 7) of the fixed arc (6) when   the moving bow (15) is engaged with the other free end (7, 8).   Valve according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized   in that each latch (16, 17) comprises a rod (20) having an axis (a-a)   parallel to the axis of rotation (X-X) of the handle (4).   Valve according to claim 2 and 4, characterized in that the rod (20) is fixed to a blade (21) arranged in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation (XX) of the handle (4), and having a portion end (21b) that makes   protruding from the handle (4) and which is provided with said gripping means (19).   Valve according to claim 5, characterized in that the elastic means (18) comprise a leaf spring (23) having an end fixed to   the blade (21) and an opposite end disposed at a distance from the latter.   7 valve according to claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the gripping means (19) comprise a pommel (24) wedged on the part   end (2 lb) of the blade (21) protruding from the handle (4).   8 interception valve handle of the type comprising an angularly displaceable movable arc between opposite free ends of a fixed arc integral with a valve housing, characterized in that it comprises at least one latch (16, 17) able to engage with one of said free ends   (8, 7) when the movable bow (15) is engaged with the other free end (7, 8).
