Abstract

An ointment comprises 55-70 wt% of pure lambs' suet (a), 15-29 % of methyl salicylate (b), and 10-22 % of lavender spirit (c). Pref., the compsn. contains (a) 64.8 %, (b) 19-8 % and (c) 15.4 %. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. is used to treat the scalp. The compsn. has no topical toxicity and does not inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, prevents hair loss, and promotes re-growth.
