Abstract
Composition photosensible, à base de résine polymérisable sous l'effet d'un rayonnement lumineux incident, caractérisée en ce qu'elle comporte un colorant neutre, non fluorescent, absorbant la lumière reçue et un élément amorceur de la réaction de polymérisation, mise en place par le dégagement de chaleur créé au sein du colorant absorbant par le rayonnement lumineux incident.
Description
La présente invention est relative à une composition photosensible, en particulier à base de résine, du genre de celles couramment utilisées pour la fabrication de disques à lecture optique, en particulier mais non exclusivement par le procédé de photolithographie.
On connalt bien la technique d'utilisation d'une résine photosensible déposée en couche mince sur un substrat et sur laquelle est appliqué un masque pour l'insolation de la couche de résine par un rayonnement approprié, de telle sorte que, après retrait du masque, les parties insolées ou non selon le type de résine utilisée, puissent être retirées, laissant apparaître à travers cette couche aux endroits correspondants, la surface du substrat qui peut être ensuite gravée dans ces endroits, avant que le reliquat de la résine ne soit éliminé et le substrat ainsi gravé ne soit enfin recouvert d'une couche métallique mince de réflexion d'un faisceau lumineux cohérent, permettant "de lire" les informations binaires, en creux ou en relief, créées dans ce substrat. En variante, la résine peut être directement soumise à l'effet du rayonnement d'insolation, modulé en fonction précisément des informations à enregistrer dans la couche sensible, c'est-à-dire des microtrous et microreliefs successifs à former dans celle-ci.
Ces techniques sont classiques. Toutefois, elles exigent pour leur mise en oeuvre que le rayonnement qui insole la couche de résine présente une relativement grande énergie, pour réaliser dans les zones de la couche qui le reçoivent la polymérisation convenable de matériau, cette opération devant en outre être réalisée de telle sorte que la résolution spatiale du faisceau incident , c'est-à-dire la séparation minimale d'une zone polymérisée quelconque vis-à-vis d'une zone voisine non polymérisée, soit extrêmement faible, pour pouvoir enregistrer les milliards d'informations successives représentant l'enregistrement à stocker dans le disque final.
Dans la demande de brevet français n" 89.15261 du 21 novembre 1989, pour "Procédé pour la fabrication d'un disque à lecture optique et disques obtenus par ce procédé", la Société demanderesse a proposé un procédé nouveau qui consiste notamment à réaliser la gravure d'un disque de type "worm", qui signifie "write once, read many" ou "écrit en une fois, lu plusieurs fois", au moyen d'une simple diode laser, qui émet en basse fréquence à la limite du rouge et de l'infrarouge, en particulier avec une longueur d'onde voisine de 780 nm, le disque dans lequel l'information a ainsi été enregistrée, servant ensuite de réplique pour la gravure d'un substrat, notamment en verre. Selon ce procédé, l'enregistrement du disque worm peut être réalisé par un utilisateur ne disposant dans ce but que d'un matériel simple et peut coûteux, l'opération suivante de gravure du substrat en verre étant effectuée par un laboratoire spécialisé mais qui ne connaît pas et n'a pas à connaître le contenu de l'information enregistrée, notamment si celle-ci est codée, se bornant à la mise en oeuvre d'opérations purement mécaniques ou physico-chimiques pour la fabrication du substrat gravé.
L'invention concerne une composition photosensible particulière, à base de résine photosensible, qui, notamment, peut convenablement servir de support d'enregistrement à partir d'un faisceau émis par une source stigmatique, un laser et en particulier une simple diode laser travaillant dans la zone de longueur d'onde allant du visible au proche infrarouge, mais qui avec l'énergie relativement limitée issue d'une telle diode, présente néanmoins un pouvoir de résolution spatiale élevé, en permettant une polymérisation efficace de la résine exactement contrôlée, en particulier au droit du faisceau incident.
A cet effet, la composition considérée, à base de résine photosensible destinée à être soumise à un rayonnement lumineux incident, se caractérise en ce qu'elle comporte un colorant neutre, avantageusement non fluorescent, absorbant la lumière reçue et un élément amorceur de la réaction de polymérisation amorcée par le dégagement de chaleur créé au sein du colorant absorbant par le rayonnement lumineux incident.
L'invention consiste ainsi à ajouter à une résine photosensible en elle-même connue, un colorant absorbant neutre, préférentiellementnon fluorescent, apte à transformer l'énergie des photons du rayonnement lumineux reçu en une émission de chaleur, l'élévation de température créée au sein de la résine étant suffisante pour provoquer un processus de décomposition d'une substance d'amorçage, tel que la réaction de polymérisation en chaîne de la résine soit enclenchée, les proportions relatives de l'élément amorceur et du colorant étant choisies de manière à contrôler physiquement le transfert de chaleur créé, pour réduire les dimensions de la zone polymérisée à celles nécessaires à la résolution spatiale désirée.
A partir notamment d'un colorant dont la molécule est photostable, en particulier tel qu'il ne réémette que très médiocrement la lumière reçue, l'absorption pendant un temps court de l'énergie lumineuse incidente qui en résulte, se traduit essentiellement par une transition non radiative de son état d'excitation électronique, avec émission de chaleur, créant dans la couche de résine, au droit du faisceau lumineux incident, un échauffement local. Si la résine incorporant un tel colorant non fluorescent, comporte également un élément amorceur constitué d'une substance dégradable thermiquement, l'élévation de température va permettre d'amorcer la réaction de polymérisation en chaîne souhaitée, tout en permettant de la contrôler et notamment de la limiter spatialement dans la couche de résine.
En particulier, à partir du moment où la densité du flux lumineux incident, attaquant la couche de résine en provenance d'une diode laser ou analogue, a comme il est constant avec ce type de source, une répartition s'établissant selon une courbe de
Gauss centrée sur l'axe du faisceau, l'élévation de température créée, qui dépend non seulement de la répartition de cette densité mais également de la loi d'absorption de la lumière par le matériau ainsi que de la concentration en colorant neutre, peut être exactement contrôlée, la décomposition de l'élément amorceur qui suit une loi à profil exponentiel, étant forte dans les zones à haute température, proches de l'axe du faisceau et décroissant ensuite très rapidement dans la direction radiale à partir de celui-ci. Il en résulte une limitation concomitante de l'extension des zones où se produit la polymérisation de la résine, avec une résolution spatiale extrêmement fine et précise autour du faisceau incident, la chaleur dissipée étant initialement forte mais très rapidement réduite dans une proportion telle qu'elle stoppe définitivement le processus de disparition de l'amorceur et par suite l'extension de la zone polymérisée en chaîne, cantonnée dans des limites étroites autour du point d'impact du faisceau.
Gauss centrée sur l'axe du faisceau, l'élévation de température créée, qui dépend non seulement de la répartition de cette densité mais également de la loi d'absorption de la lumière par le matériau ainsi que de la concentration en colorant neutre, peut être exactement contrôlée, la décomposition de l'élément amorceur qui suit une loi à profil exponentiel, étant forte dans les zones à haute température, proches de l'axe du faisceau et décroissant ensuite très rapidement dans la direction radiale à partir de celui-ci. Il en résulte une limitation concomitante de l'extension des zones où se produit la polymérisation de la résine, avec une résolution spatiale extrêmement fine et précise autour du faisceau incident, la chaleur dissipée étant initialement forte mais très rapidement réduite dans une proportion telle qu'elle stoppe définitivement le processus de disparition de l'amorceur et par suite l'extension de la zone polymérisée en chaîne, cantonnée dans des limites étroites autour du point d'impact du faisceau.
Avantageusement et selon une autre caractéristique de l'invention, la composition considérée peut comporter également un inhibiteur de la réaction de décomposition de l'amorceur, réduisant encore l'étendue des zones où se produit la polymérisation de la résine. Notamment, un tel inhibiteur est constitué par de l'oxygène, dissous dans la résine, de telle sorte que cet oxygène se consomme sous l'effet du rayonnement incident, en empêchant la réaction de polymérisation jusqu'à un certain seuil, qui est atteint seulement à l'issue d'un laps de temps qui dépend de quantité de photons absorbés. Dans ces conditions, dans les zones à faible absorption, la polymérisation de la résine sera empêchée, améliorant encore ainsi la résolution obtenue.
De nombreuses substances peuvent être adoptées pour constituer respectivement le colorant neutre absorbant, l'élément amorceur de la réaction de polymérisation, voire l'inhibeur temporaire de ladite réaction par action sur l'instant du démarrage de la décomposiiton de l'amorceur.
Notamment et selon l'invention, le colorant neutre absorbant présentant une stabilité photochimique appropriée sera de préférence choisi parmi des compositions xanthéniques, des azines, oxazines ou thiazines, des polymethines, des triphenylméthanes, des mérocyanines, des compositions azoiques, des colorants métallifères ou encore des anthraquinoniques.
Ainsi et à titre d'exemples non limitatifs, on pourra sélectionner parmi les compositions xanthéniques, le rose bengale, la phloxine, la pyronine. Parmi les azines, on préférera la phénosafranine, parmi les oxazines, le bleu de nile, parmi les polyméthines, le néocyanine ou le pinacyanol notamment. Dans les triphenylméthanes, le cristal violet ou le vert méthyl présentent des propriétés avantageuses, de même que le rouge de quinaldine parmi les mérocyanines. Dans les compositions azoiques, l'orange ou le rouge soudan seront préférés, ou encore, à titre de colorant métallifère, le bis diméthylamine dithiobenzyl nickel.
En ce qui concerne les éléments amorceurs de la réaction de polymérisation, on retiendra préférentiellement les peroxydes de benzoyle, de cyclohexane, d'acétylacétone, les hydroperoxydes ou les persels tels que le peroxy dicarbonate de myristyle, l'éthyl-2 perhexanoate de butyle ou le 2-méthyl propronitrile, ou les composés azolques tels que le 2,2-Azobis (2-Méthylpropionitrile).
Enfin parmi les inhibiteurs, on pourra utiliser un corps choisi parmi l'hydroquinone, le p-méthoxy phénol, les alkyl et aryl-quinones et hydroquinones, la phenothiazine, les naphtylamines, le nitrobenzène, la pyridine, l'oxygène etc...
Ainsi, avec une résine acrylique par exemple du type dipentaerythritol pentaacrylate, en présence d' un colorant tel qu'un sel d'azulénium à 0,3 % en poids, ou de l'erythrosine et un amorceur constitué par du peroxyde de benzoyle à 2 % en poids, disposée en couche mince de 30 microns, notamment entre deux lames de verre parallèles, en utilisant un laser à Krypton ou à COz, fournissant un éclairement avec une raie centrée à 752 nm, d'énergie de 35 mW seulement, focalisé par une lentille à la surface de la couche, on obtient une polymérisation efficace de la seule région illuminée en une minute, avec une résolution diamétrale de l'ordre du dizième de millimètre à partir de l'axe du rayonnement issu de la diode.
Bien entendu, un tel exemple n'a en lui-même aucun caractère limitatif, de nombreuses variantes pouvant être ainsi envisagées dans le cadre précis des revendications ci-annexées. En particulier, outre son application au stockage d'informations par photolithographie ou enregistrement direct, la composition selon l'invention peut être utilement employée pour la fabrication d'éléments optiques holographiques.
Claims (5)
1 - Composition photosensible, à base de résine polymérisable sous l'effet d'un rayonnement lumineux incident, caractérisée en ce qu'elle comporte un colorant neutre, avantageusement non fluorescent, absorbant la lumière reçue et un élément amorceur de la réaction de polymérisation, amorcée par le dégagement de chaleur créé au sein du colorant absorbant par le rayonnement lumineux incident.
2 - Composition photosensible selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que le colorant neutre absorbant, non fluorescent, est choisi parmi les produits xanthéniques, les azines du genre oxazines ou thiazines, les polyméthines, les triphenylméthanes, les mérocyanines, les azoiques, les colorants métallifères ou les anthraquinones.
3 - Composition photosensible selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que l'amorceur de la réaction de polymérisation est choisi parmi les peroxydes de benzoyle, de cyclohexane, d'acélylacétone, les hydroperoxydes ou les persels tels que le peroxy dicarbonate de myristyle, l'éthyl-2 perhexanoate de butyle ou le 2-méthyl propronitrile, ou de composés azoïques tels que le 2,2-Azobis (2-méthylpropionitrile).
4 - Composition photosensible selon l'une quelconques des revendications 1 à 3, caractérisée en ce qu'elle comporte également un inhibiteur de la réaction choisi parmi l'hydroquinone, le p-méthoxy phénol, les alkyl et aryl-quinones et hydroquinones, la phenothiazine, les naphtylamines, le nitrobenzène, la pyridine, ou l'oxygène.
5 - Application de la composition photosensible selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, au stockage d'informations ou d'éléments optiques holographiques.
