Abstract

This is a closing device of the kind comprising, on the one hand, at least one rod (15A, 15B), which, slidably mounted under the control of a cam (16) fixed in rotation on a control (18) available to the user, carries transversely at least one bolt (19, 19 '), and, on the other hand, at least one keeper (20), which equips the corresponding frame and with which the bolt (19, 19 ') is adapted to cooperate in engagement. According to the invention, for the same keeper (20), the rod (15A, 15B) comprises, staggered at a distance from each other over its height, two separate bolts (19, 19 '), one active for a first direction of assembly of the leaf concerned and the other active for a second direction of assembly of the latter. Application, in particular, to cabinets, in particular for electrical equipment.

"Closure device for returnable door, and cabinet whose door

  The present invention relates generally to cabinets, or other such furniture, of the type comprising a door whose leaf is equipped with a closing device. own lock on the frame to which he

is articulated.

  It is more specifically the case where this closure device comprises, on the one hand, at least one rod, which, intended to be slidably mounted on the back of the wing, under the control of a cam set in rotation on a control member at the disposal of the user, door transversely at least one bolt, and which are associated with stop means adapted to limit the stroke in at least one direction, and, secondly, at least one striker, which is intended to equip the frame, and with which the corresponding bolt of the

  One of the problems to be solved in the realization of the cabinets whose door is thus equipped with such a closure device is that, for standardization of manufacture, it is desirable that the leaf of this door is returnable, so that according to the requirements, it can be mounted according to one or the other of two mounting directions, one for which it is hinged to the right on the frame, the actuating member then presenting on the left hand for the user, the other for which it is articulated on the left on this frame, the organ of maneuver then presenting itself with hand

right for this user.

  The present invention generally relates to a provision likely to facilitate such a reversal. More specifically, it firstly relates to a closure device of the kind concerned characterized in that, for the same strike, the rod comprises, spaced apart from each other on its height, two bolts separate, one active for a first direction of mounting the door leaf, and the other active for the opposite direction of mounting thereof; its subject is still any cabinet whose door

  is thus equipped with such a closure device.

  Thanks to the fact that, for the same strike, there are provided two bolts on the rod, no intervention is necessary on this rod when reversing the door it equips. According to a preferred embodiment, the closure device according to the invention comprises two rods, which, each disposed respectively on either side of the cam, are jointly mounted sliding in opposite directions relative to each other. under the control of the latter, and the corresponding strikes each comprise two separate inputs, which extend back to back, and one is active for one of the rods while the other is active

for the other of these.

  These locks can thus be advantageously identical for both rods, whatever

  the mounting direction of the door leaf.

  Their manufacture and setting up are found

advantageously simplified.

  Preferably, also, the abutment means associated with at least one of the rods use two pawls which, when tilting, are adapted to be bent by simple gravity between this rod and a fixed element relative to that ci, and one of which is active for a first direction of assembly of the door leaf and the other for the direction of

opposite mounting of it.

  Thanks to these various provisions, the flipping of the door leaf can advantageously be done without any

  intervention other than that necessary for its execution.

  The characteristics and advantages of the invention

  will emerge from the description which follows,

  In a manner known per se, and as illustrated in these figures, the door 10 of the cabinet 11 for which the invention is intended, which is for example a cabinet for electrical equipment, comprises, overall, a frame 12 and a 13, which, by hinges, not visible in the figures, is articulated to the frame 12 along one of the vertical edges thereof. Also known per se, this door 10 is equipped with a closing device 14 comprising, on the one hand, at least one rod 15 A, which, slidably mounted on the back of the wing 13 under the control of a cam 16 locked in rotation on a control member 18 at the disposal of the user, in this case a handle pivotally mounted about an axis perpendicular to the leaf 13, carries, transversely, at least one bolt 19, and with which are associated , according to the methods described in more detail later, stop means adapted to limit the stroke in at least one direction, and, secondly, at least one keeper 20, which equips the frame 12 and with which the bolt 19 Corresponding rod 15 A

  is adapted to cooperate in commitment.

  According to the mounting direction shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the leaf 13 is articulated along the vertical right edge of the frame 12, and the control member 18 presents itself

  In practice, the closing device 14 comprises two rods 15 A, 15 B which, each disposed respectively on either side of the cam 16, are mounted sliding in opposite directions with respect to each other under the control of the latter, and, like the rod 15 A, the rod B carries transversely at least one bolt 19, with, in

  correspondence, on the frame 12, a striker 20.

  There is thus, staggered in height on this frame 12, for cooperation with the bolts 19 of the rods 15 A, 15 B, the

minus two strikes 20.

  Of course, there can also be an additional lock for cooperation with a latch directly

controlled by the handle 18.

  In the embodiment shown, the rods A, B are made of metal strips

  suitably cut and shaped.

  They are edging with respect to the leaf 13, and for their guidance, they are slidably engaged, on the one hand, jointly, at the height of the handle 18, with a housing 22 by which the cam intervenes 16, and, on the other hand, each individually, with at least one guide

  23 duly attached to the wing 13.

  The housing 22 falling within the scope of the art and not concerned by the present invention, it will not be described here. According to the invention, each of the rods 15 A, 15 B comprises, staggered apart from each other over its height, for the same striker 20, two separate bolts 19, 19 ', one active for a first direction of assembly of the wing 13, the other

  active for the opposite mounting direction of it.

  For example, and as shown, the bolt 19 is the one closest to the cam 16 and the bolt 19 'the one that

is the farthest

  In practice, each of these bolts 19, 19 'is formed of two pins 24, which, arranged back to back, each extend respectively on either side of the rod 15 A, 15 B which

  the door, perpendicular to it.

  It may be both pins fixed relative to the rod 15 A, 15 B as pions of which at least a portion is rotatably mounted relative thereto. The strikes 20 are identical for each of the rods 15 A, 15 B. They each comprise two separate inlets 25, 25 'which extend back to back, one downwards,

the other up.

  As will appear hereinafter, one of these inputs, 25 'is active for one of the rods 15A, 15B while the other is active for the other of these, and vice versa, in the image of the bolts 19, 19 ', following the meaning

mounting of the wing 13.

  In the embodiment shown, a striker 20

  is in the form of a relatively massive piece.

  The two inlets 25, 25 'are each formed respectively by the ends of an elongated recess 26, which, for the passage of a rod 15 A, 15 B, as schematically in phantom in Figure 8 for the rod 15 A, is provided longitudinally along its entire height in such

strike 20.

  In practice, this striker 20 generally has a generally C-shaped cross section, with a bottom 27, two flanks 28, and protruding from these flanks 28, in the median zone at least of these, for the retention of bolts 19, 19 ',

  returns to square 29 directed towards each other.

  To possibly allow a support of such a bolt 19, 19 ', and thus counteract any warpage of the wing 13, a stop bar 30 extends transversely of each of the returns at right angle 29 at the bottom 27, in the central zone flanks 28 protruding from the inner surface of these

flanks 28.

  In order to facilitate the engagement of a bolt 19, 19 ', the ends of the angled returns 29 are cut by chamfers, both longitudinally, on their internal surface,

  than transversely, on their edge.

  For attachment to the frame 12, a striker 20 has, laterally, in the embodiment shown, duly staggered over its height, on the one hand, two lugs 32, each pierced with a hole 33, and on the other hand two wedge-shaped tips 34 each arranged at a respective level with

the ears 32.

  The corresponding provisions not falling under the

  present invention, they will not be described here.

  For the sliding of the rods 15A, 15B, the guides 23 have a passage 36, whose cross section is in the profile of such a rod 15A, 15B, and one of the flanks

  is opened longitudinally by a slot 37.

  In practice, in the embodiment shown, such a guide 23 consists of two parts 38, 38 ', which are articulated to each other by a hinge zone 39, and between which the passage 36 passes, the two lips 40, 40 'defining the slot 37 that presents it belonging

  each respectively to these two parts 38, 38 '.

  The hinge zone 39, which is constituted by a U-folded tongue on itself, extends generally perpendicularly to the rods 15 A, 15 B. In correspondence with each other, the two parts 38, 38 'are each perforated with a bore 41, 41 'specific to

  passage of a screw for fixing the assembly to the leaf 13.

  The bore 41 of the portion 38 is extended by a flange 42 through which this portion 38 is nested in a clearance 42 'that the portion 38' at the outlet

corresponding to its drilling 41 '.

  In practice, it is by this part 38 'that a guide 23

is leaning against the beating 13.

  Anyway, the guide 23 thus formed may advantageously be made of synthetic material, and, because of its two-part constitution 38, 38 ', the mold

  necessary for its manufacture is advantageously simplified.

  Indeed, its molding can thus be done flat, as shown in Figure 12, the corresponding mold is

  advantageously without any drawer.

  In the embodiment shown, the cam 16

is a starry cam.

  In other words, it is constituted by a pinion, with teeth 44. Each of the rods 15 A, 15 B meshes with it by a

  rack 45 A, 45 B provided on its edge.

  For the rod 15 A, this rack 45 A extends in favor of a recess 46 A, which notch substantially to

  mid-width, and whose end edges 47, 47 'are straight.

  For the rod 15 B, the rack 45 B is formed in favor of a simple notch 46 B, which, if it also affects halfway width B rod 15, extends to the corresponding end of the latter, and so is

open at this end.

  The abutment means associated with one of the rods A, B, and in practice is the bead wire 15 A, implement, in the embodiment shown, two pawls 48, 48 ', in accordance with described in detail in the French patent application filed by the plaintiff on 12

March 1991 under No. 91 02952.

  In short, mounted pivoting, these pawls 48, 48 'are adapted to be arched by simple gravity between the rod 15 A and a fixed element relative thereto, in this case the housing 22, and one is active for a first direction of mounting the wing 13 while the other is active for the sense of

opposite mounting of it.

  In practice, these pawls 48, 48 'are pivotally mounted, and tilting, by pins 50, 50', on the housing 22, at the ends thereof, this housing 22 having for this purpose elongate slots 51, 51 ' buttonhole parallel to the rods 15A, 15B, and arranged generally symmetrically relative to each other, they each intervene respectively at the ends of the notch 46A of the rod 15 A. To do this, the ratchets 48, 48 'each have, apart from their trunnions 50, 50', on the one hand, a spout 52, by which they are adapted to first be able to wear by simple gravity on the rod 15 A and forthcoming engaged with the corresponding end edge 47, 47 'of the notch 46 A of this rod 15 A, and, secondly, a shoulder 53, on which this projection 52 projects, and by which they are also adapted to come wear by simple gravity on the rod 15 A, and thus to be arched to it, lor sque, by engagement in the indentation 46A, this spout 52 is actually engaged with the

  end edge 47, 47 'corresponding thereof.

  The abutment means associated with the other bead 15 A, B, in this case the bead 15 B, result from simply pressing on it one of the teeth 44 of the cam 16 away from its rack 45 B. In practice, for pressing on such a rod 15 B, the summit portion 55 of such a tooth 44 has, on its edge, two flats 56 which each extend respectively on either side of its radial plane of symmetry R .

  These flats 56 make an angle of 90 between them.

  Taking into account the development that the upper part 55 of a tooth 44 thus presents, the root 58 of such a tooth 44 narrows in the direction of the axis thereof, to facilitate its meshing with the racks 45 A B. Preferably, the cam 16 thus has, regularly circularly distributed, eight teeth 44, four of which are in the extension of the diagonals of the square opening 59 that it has jointly for its wedging

  rotation on the associated control member 18.

  For these four teeth 44, one of which will be that intended to bear against the rod 15 B, the flats 56 are each respectively parallel to the sides of this opening

square 59.

  Thus, no particular orientation is to be respected when mounting this cam 16, and therefore no particular indexing is advantageously to be expected at its

topic.

  Indeed, all these possible orientations with respect to the axis of the control member 18 are then necessarily good. For the mounting direction of the leaf 13 shown in Figures 1 and 2, it will be assumed, by way of example, that, as shown, it is the rod 15 A which extends over the upper half of this leaf 13 while the rod 15 B extends

on his lower half.

  In reality, a reverse arrangement is just as good

possible.

  It will be assumed, also, by way of example, that, as shown, the rod 15 A extends on the right side of the housing

  22 and the rod 15 B on the left side thereof.

  But, as before, a reverse provision is

just as well as possible.

  In the closed position, FIGS. 1 and 13A, the handle

  constituting the control member 18 extends downwards.

  The rod 15 A is engaged with the cam 16 by the lower end of its rack 45A, FIG. 14A. By its beak 52, the pawl 48, which is then the upper ratchet, is engaged in the notch 46A. of the rod 15 A, at a distance from the corresponding end edge 47 of this notch 46 A, while carrying, by its shoulder 53, on this rod 15 A. Conjointly, the pawl 48 ', which is then the ratchet

  lower, hang freely, by gravity.

  Together, also, the rod 15 B is engaged with the cam 16 by the upper end of its rack B. As a result, the tooth 44 of the cam 16 immediately downstream of the one with which the cam 16 meshes with the rack 45 B carries, by a flat 56, on the solid part of this rod 15 B, as shown in FIGS. 14A and 15A. This results in a jamming between the rod 15 B and

  the cam 16, and therefore the locking in position of the assembly.

  Thus, for this closing position, it is the rod 15 B which ensures, by the cam 16, the retention of the assembly, its downward stroke by simple gravity is

  being prevented by this cam 16.

  For this closed position, the rod 15 A is engaged by its bolt 19 with the keeper 20 associated with it, by the input 25 of the striker 20, while its latch 19 'is at a distance from it, As shown diagrammatically in the right-hand part of FIG. 13A. At the same time, the rod 15B is engaged by its bolt 19 with the striker 20 which is associated with it, by the inlet 25 'thereof, while its 19 'bolt is remote from this striker 20. Thus, if, for this closing position, it is the bolt 19, the closest to the cam 16, which is active for both rods 15 A, B is, in opposite arrangements, the entry 25 of the keeper 20 concerned which is active for the rod 15 A and the inlet 25 'for the rod B. For the opening of the door 10 , the handle forming the control member 18 is rotated by 9 Q 0, as shown schematically by an arrow F1 in FIGS. 1 and 13 B, to extend

horizontally.

  Because of the meshing due to the cam 16, the rod 15 A then moves downwards, as shown schematically by the arrow F 2 A in FIG. 13 B, whereas the rod 15 B moves upwards, as shown schematically by the arrow F 2 B in this figure 13 B. In practice, the downward movement of the rod 15 A, and therefore the upward movement of the rod 15 B, continue until, for example, its beak 52, the pawl 48 engages with the end edge 47 of the notch 46 A of this rod 15 A and is therefore bent between it and

the housing 22.

  For the open position, it is therefore the rod 15 A

  which ensures, by the pawl 48, the retention of the assembly.

  For this open position, the bolts 19, 19 'of the rod 15 A both extend away from the corresponding striker 20, as shown diagrammatically in the right-hand part of FIG. 13B, and it is the same for the bolts 19, 19 'of the rod 15 B. Jointly, the racks 45 A, 45 B of the rods

  A, B are then substantially at the same height.

  To ensure the flipping of the door 13 of the door, it suffices, the flap 13 being in the open position, to disengage it, and, after interchanging with the corresponding hinges the latches 20, thereby implanting them along the vertical right edge of the frame 12, to return in its plane 1800 this 13, as shown schematically by an arrow F 3 in Figure 16, and engage again on these

hinges.

  The corresponding open position, shown schematically in FIG. 17B, resumes, by symmetry, that shown schematically in FIG. 13B. As previously, therefore, the handle constituting the control member 18 extends horizontally, and the bolts 19, 191 of the rods 15 A, 15 B both extend to

  distance of the corresponding strikes 20.

  But it is now the rod 15 B which extends over the upper half of the flap 13, while the rod 15 A

  extends on its lower half.

  Together, it is the pawl 48 'which then extends to the upper part of the housing 22, while the ratchet

  48 then extends to the lower part thereof.

  It is then necessary, in order to disarm the pawl 48, to pivot slightly upwards, as shown schematically by an arrow F 4 in FIG. 17B, the control member 18, until the spout 52 this ratchet 48 escapes the end edge 47 of the notch 46 A of the rod 15 A. Thus released, the pawl 48 hangs freely then

down, by gravity.

  Together, the pawl 48 'carries its spout 52 on the rod 15 A, beyond the corresponding end edge 47'

of the notch 46 A thereof.

  His armament intervenes systematically by passage

  of the assembly in the closed position.

  For this passage in the closed position, simply tilt down the handle constituting the control member 18, as shown schematically by an arrow F'1 in Figures 16 and 17 A. The spout 52 of the pawl 48 ' then engages in the notch 46 A of the rod 15 A, and is therefore able to engage with the corresponding end edge 47 '

  of it in the open position.

  For this second mounting direction of the leaf 13, it is still the rod 15 A which ensures the retention of all

  for the open position, but by the pawl 48 '.

  On closing, and because of the meshing due to the cam 16, the rod 15 A moves upwards, along the arrow F'2 A of FIG. 17 B, whereas the rod 15 B moves towards the bottom, along the arrow F'2 B of this figure 17 B. It is then by its bolt 19 'that the rod 15 A engages with the striker 20 associated, while its bolt 19

departs from it.

  But, this striker 20 having itself been in practice the object of a reversal during its passage from the left vertical edge of the frame 12 to the right vertical edge thereof, the bolt 19 'of the rod 15 A enters this striker 20 by

  the entry 25 ', then turned down, thereof.

  As a corollary, by its bolt 19 ', the rod 15 B is also engaged with the associated striker 20, through the entry 25, then turned upwards thereof, while its bolt

  19 remains at a distance from this striker 20.

  As previously, it is the rod 15 B which, for this position of closure, ensures by the cam 16 the retention of the assembly, by bearing on it a flat portion 56 of a tooth 44

of this cam 16.

  Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown, but encompasses

any variant of execution.

  In particular, for the same rod 15 A, 15 B it can

  several strikes 20 are provided, and thus several pairs of bolts 19, 19 '.

  Similarly, there may be provided several guides 23 on the height of such a rod 15 A, 15 B.

Claims (14)

  1 closing device for door of the kind comprising, on the one hand, at least one rod (15 A, 15 B), which, slidably mounted on the back of the leaf (13) of the door (10) under the control of a cam (16) set in rotation on a control member (18) at the disposal of the user, carries transversely at least one bolt (19, 19 '), and which are associated stop means adapted to limit the stroke in at
