Abstract

The subject of the present invention is a washing line. It consists of a rope, wire (1) or cable, the external surface of which is provided, over its entire length, with small spikes (2) made of a plastic which is rigid enough to penetrate into the fabric, between the fibres, and flexible enough not to damage the said fabric when it is removed from the line after drying. It is intended to be used alone or for equipping dryers (airers) of all types.

Description

CLOTHESLINE
The present invention relates to a clothesline.

 It is intended to be used alone or for the equipment of all types of dryers.

Currently, each piece of laundry to be dried is first laid out on a common type rope, then must be held in place with one or more clothespins.
The device according to the present invention allows the total elimination of clothespins, which results, in addition to a saving, a significant saving of time.

 It is made up} of a cord, wire or cable, the outer surface of which is provided - all its length with small plastic dots rigid enough to penetrate the fabric, between the fibers, and flexible enough not to damage the said fabric. 'it is removed from the rope after drying.

 The device, FIGS. 1 to 4, consists of a wire 1 or cable made of flexible but resistant plastic material, for example polyamide, the surface of which comprises on the whole periphery of the pins 2 arranged radially, sufficiently fine to penetrate between the wires of the common fabrics.

 The clothesline can consist of a solid wire 1 (Figure 2) or a resistant core, such as wire or wire 3 (Figure 3) or strand 4 of textile fibers (Figure 4), coated with a plastic sheath 5 carrying the pins 2.

 In order to give the device greater flexibility, the rope can also be formed of several strands 6 carrying spikes, braided together (Figure 5).

 The pins 2 are preferably made of the same material as the wire 1, 6 or the sheath 5 which carries them, all being produced in a single operation using special molds. However, said pins can also consist of pieces of short plastic fiber, either held in the wire or the sheath forming the rope by a coating process, or taken in an ordinary braided rope, these pieces of fiber being arranged so that their ends protrude perpendicular to the periphery of the rope, thus forming spikes.

 The dimensions of the pins will advantageously be approximately 1 millimeter for the length and 2 to 5 tenths of a millimeter for the diameter of the base. Their spacing may be between 3 and 15 millimeters.

 The use of the clothesline according to the invention requires that the articles to be dried are placed on it so that the two parts falling on each side have substantially the same weight. Under these conditions, the laundry is perfectly maintained, even in strong winds, and whatever the size of the items to be dried.

 The positioning of the various constituent elements gives this device a maximum of useful effects which had not previously been obtained by similar devices.

 10 Clothesline intended to be used alone or for the equipment of driers of all types, characterized by a cord, wire or cable, the external surface of which is provided over its entire length, and over its entire periphery with small pins (2 ) arranged radially, in plastic material rigid enough to penetrate the fabric of the laundry to be dried, between the fibers, and flexible enough not to damage said fabric when it is removed from the cord after drying.  20 Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the clothesline consists of a solid wire (1) carrying the pins (2).  30 Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the clothesline consists of a resistant core, such as wire or metal cable (3) or strand (4) of textile fibers coated with a sheath (5) made of plastic carrying the pins (2).  40 Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the clothesline is formed of several strands (6) carrying spikes braided together.  50 Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pins (2) are made of the same material as the wire (1, 6) or the sheath (5) as the doors, the assembly being manufactured in a single operation.  60 Device according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the pins (2) consist of pieces of plastic fiber of short length, either hand held in the wire or the sheath forming the rope by a process coating, is taken in an ordinary braided rope, these pieces of fiber being arranged so that their ends protrude perpendicularly to the periphery of the rope, thereby forming the pins.  70 Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pins  are about 1 millimeter in length, that the diameter of their  base measures 2 to 5 tenths of a millimeter, and that their space  ment is between 3 and 15 millimeters.
