Abstract

The invention relates to a device which can applied on a machine intended to break nut shells in order to be able to remove the fruit without it being broken. It consists of mandrels rotating on a shaft, the jaws 6 of which, arranged in a conical manner, are equipped with a pre-breaking lip. Tabs 8 forming a cone, fastened on the upper part of the jaws, ensure that the nuts are presented longitudinally. Gripping of the jaws is effected by levers 7 which, actuated by mechanical stops 9 and 11, permit breaking of the shell to a predetermined degree without reaching the fruit. The machine is intended particularly for breaking the shells of walnuts.
