Abstract

Method of fastening a flexible strip 1 provided with a metal base 2 onto a motor vehicle body. After adhesive bonding of the strip onto the sheet metal 3 of the body, additional fastenings are added at predetermined locations by piercing a blind hole 4 and introducing a rivet into the said hole, the shank 8 of which rivet expands and pushes away the flexible material of the strip in order to come into contact with the metal base 2.

a- un collage de la baguette sur la tôle de la carrosserie selon un procédé connu en soi,
b- un repérage des emplacements qui nécessitent une fixation supplémentaire, suivi d'un perçage à chacun des points ainsi déterminés d'un trou borgne traversant la tôle; la semelle métallique et une partie de la baguette,
c- l'introduction dans ledit trou d'un rivet, d'un type connu en soi, formé d'une tête et d'une tige tubulaire à travers lesquelles est engagée une broche munie d'un épanouissement faisant saillie au dessus de ladite tige et,
d- une rétractation de la broche pour provoquer la dilatation de la tige tubulaire par le passage à l'intérieur de celle-ci de l'épanouissement de ladite broche, de façon que l'écrasement de la tige tubulaire repousse la matière souple de la baguette pour venir au contact de la semelle métallique en serrant celle-ci ainsi que la tôle contre la face en regard de la tête du rivet.
