Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to the field of packaging; it relates more particularly to a tray, obtained from a blank of cardboard or any other suitable material, having a substantially parallelepiped shape, which tray is intended in particular for the packaging, fractional or not, of ovoid or elongated products. This protective tray can be used for example for the storage, transport and display for sale of fragile food products such as kiwis.
As a general rule, the harvested fruit is packaged in bulk, in sachets, or, for fragile products such as kiwis, in honeycomb trays. However, these different types of packaging do not offer all the guarantees of protection and it often happens that the fruit arrives at the point of sale sufficiently deteriorated to prevent its presentation to consumers.
The invention aims to overcome this drawback by providing a packaging container which provides effective protection and some enhancement of the products. Depending on the type of tray, one can obtain a unit packaging or a grouping of several products in a fractional packaging. The structural characteristics of this packaging allow treks to be easily grouped together in a tray; they are also stackable without any risk for food.
This tray, intended for the packaging of fragile, ovoid or elongated products, is obtained from a cardboard blank or any other suitable material, cut and grooved; it consists of a bottom from which extend two parallel boxes, the internal faces of which face each other, include means for receiving and wedging the ends of at least one product; it also includes means for maintaining the volume of the caissons formed.
According to the invention, the tray is made from a single blank of cardboard, cut and grooved; this blank has a central strip intended to form the bottom of the tray, this bottom is extended, on each side, by strips forming the external faces of the boxes, then by strips forming the upper surface of the tray, then by the internal faces boxes and finally by longitudinal legs; these longitudinal tabs are fixed to the bottom of the tray, one next to the other, by any appropriate means: bonding, stapling ...; they allow a flat presentation, pre-assembled, of said tray.
According to a first embodiment, the means for maintaining the volume of the tray, consist of end tabs, provided with latching tabs in the boxes to keep the latter parallel in a vertical position relative to the bottom, the faces internal and / or external of the boxes being substantially parallel to each other.
According to an alternative embodiment, the volume retention means consist of tabs or spacers partially cut across the width of the upper strips which connect the external and internal faces of the boxes. These spacers are intended to be pushed in and returned to the internal cavity of the boxes to maintain the spacing between the internal and external faces of said boxes and to lock them in this configuration, perpendicular to the bottom of the tray.
Still according to the invention, the means for receiving and wedging the products consist of two opposite orifices. Preferably, these orifices are extended by radial cutouts, which make it possible to improve the setting of the foodstuffs and which allow the packaging of products of different sizes. Each radial cut, in the shape of a petal, is advantageously connected to the adjacent cut by a crease line, thus forming a corolla.
But the invention will be further illustrated, without being in any way limited by the following description of two particular embodiments given by way of examples and shown in the accompanying drawings in which - Figure 1 is a perspective view of a tray according a first embodiment; - Figure 2 is a flat view of the cardboard blank for obtaining the tray of Figure 1 - Figure 3 shows, flat, the cardboard blank for obtaining an alternative embodiment of the 'invention.
The container-shaped packaging according to the invention, shown in FIG. 1, is produced by shaping the cardboard blank of FIG. 2. This container has a general shape that is substantially parallelepipedic; it consists of a bottom 1 from which extend upwards two parallel boxes 2. The external faces 3 of the boxes constitute the lateral sides of the tray; their internal faces 4, facing each other, comprise the means 5 for receiving and wedging, in this case six products, not shown.
The external 3 and internal 4 faces of each box 2 are connected together, at their upper level, by a longitudinal strip 6 whose width L defines the thickness of the boxes. A strip 7 of material, having identical dimensions and taken on the bottom 1, delimits the boxes 2 between their external 3 and internal 4 faces, at their lower level. The internal faces 4 of the boxes 2 are secured to the bottom 1 by means of longitudinal tabs 8 glued or stapled thereon. The section of the boxes is rectangular in normal position as shown in Figure 1. The longitudinal tabs 8 are turned towards one another, on the bottom 1. The tray can be delivered preassembled flat, with a thickness which corresponds to two thicknesses of the cardboard used.
This tray can be produced from the cardboard blank 9 shown in FIG. 2. This blank, substantially square or rectangular, is symmetrical with respect to its median axis 10.
I1 consists of a central strip intended to produce the bottom 1 of the tray, extended on either side, from the creasing lines 11, by the elements allowing the production of the boxes 2. The central strip 1 is thus extended by the sides 3 intended to form the external faces of the boxes 2. These strips 3 are connected externally, by the creasing lines 12, to the connecting strips 6, which are connected to the strips 4 constituting the internal faces of the boxes, by the 'through the creasing lines 13. The faces 4 each support part of the means 5 for receiving the products to be packaged; they are extended externally by the lugs 8 intended for their attachment to the bottom 1, during the shaping of the tray. The faces 4 are separated from the lugs 8 by the creasing lines 14.
The different elements 1, 3, 6, 4 and 8 extend over the entire length of the blank 9; this length depends on the number of products to be packaged and the size of these products.
The setting up of the blank 9, to obtain the tray shown in FIG. 1, is achieved by joining the tabs 8 to the upper part of the bottom I, by folding said blank around the creasing lines 12. This joining can advantageously be carried out by means glue dots. The final shaping is obtained by straightening the boxes 2 and folding the blank on the creasing lines 11, 12, 13 and 14.
The vertical straightening of the boxes 2 allows positioning opposite the receiving means 5 arranged on the internal faces 4. Each pair of means 5 is intended to receive a product, and in particular its ends when it comes to products ovoid or elongated. Each receiving and wedging means 5 consists of a circular orifice 15 whose dimensions depend on the product to be packaged.
These orifices 15 are extended by radial cutouts 16 which are suitably spaced and whose external ends are connected together by a crease line 17. A plurality of substantially trapezoidal facets 18 is thus obtained, forming a corolla.
When the end of the product is engaged in the central orifice 15, its periphery can rest on the facets 18 which deform towards the inside of the box according to the spatial configuration of said product. Each end of a product is thus blocked in the structures 5 opposite; the ends of these products penetrate inside the boxes 2, which have a suitable thickness.
The spacing between the different receiving means 5, arranged on the same face 4, is of course adapted to the size of the products so that they do not touch once packaged. The tray 1 will thus allow fractional packaging of the products by isolating them from each other.
The diameter of the central orifice 15 is adapted so as not to damage the packaged product; in some cases, it will be reduced to its simplest expression, at a single point and the receiving means 5 will then have the shape of a star, consisting of the juxtaposition of triangular pieces.
To prevent the packaging from sagging and causing the products to fall, it is necessary to provide means for blocking the side boxes; these locking means will keep the tray in volume, that is to say a U shape.
In the first embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, these volume retention means consist of spacer tabs 19 partially cut across the width of the connecting strips 6 and 7, or simply on one of these strips As can be see in FIG. 1, these spacer tabs 19 have a width which corresponds to the distance separating the external 3 and internal 4 faces of the boxes 2. In this embodiment, they are only present on the upper connecting strip 6 to which they are attached by a transverse fold line 20. These tabs 19 are produced during the formation of the blank 9. Once this blank is set in volume, they are intended to be pressed and returned to the internal cavity of the boxes 2, as shown the arrows of FIG. 1, in order to maintain the spacing between their external 3 and internal faces 4. These spacers 19, arranged vertically or simply inclined in the boxes make it possible to avoid sagging of the tray. One can provide one at each end of the package or a plurality, regularly spaced and oriented in opposition, in pairs, to facilitate their implementation by means of the thumb and forefinger.
An alternative embodiment of the blank for obtaining the parallelepiped tray according to the invention is shown in FIG. 3. This blank 21 takes up the vast majority of the elements of the blank 9 described above but does not include the same volume holding means.
The blank 21 has a central strip 1 extended on both sides by cardboard elements intended to form the external faces 3 of the boxes 2. Each element 3 is connected to the internal faces 4 by means of the connecting strips 6, and they are themselves extended towards the outside by the fixing lugs 8. The elements 4, intended to form the internal faces of the boxes of the tray, comprise the receiving means 5, identical to those described in the first embodiment.
As a means of maintaining the volume of the tray, the blank 21 includes end tabs 22 which extend the bottom longitudinally 1. These tabs 22 have a height corresponding substantially to that of the tray and they are provided with lateral tabs 23 having a width corresponding to the thickness L of the boxes 2 and in which they are intended to be snapped. This snap-fastening keeps the spacing between the external 3 and internal 4 faces of each box; it also makes it possible to connect the two boxes together, at their ends, so as to preserve the volume.
The trays placed in volume are in the form of U-section bars. They are easy to handle and stack.
It is also possible to provide one or two elastic bands intended to complete the volume maintenance of the tray. As shown in Figure 1, the elastic 24 can enclose the central part of the tray; it is associated with cuts 25 provided in the corners to hold it in position. The cutouts 25, also shown on the blanks of Figures 2 and 3, are obtained during the production of said blanks.
