Abstract

The invention relates to a presentation packaging with two essential components each constituting a module. One component constitutes a display module provided with a double back-to-back column of cells, a star-shaped horizontal section and a spring effect for holding in position after it has been put into volume, and the other component is a module transport / pedestal with two configurations that contains the former and the products during transport and then supports them during the presentation at the point of sale by means of a receptacle shaped in the upper part with four protruding angular abutments. An additional base-widening device for greater stability is formed at the bottom by entangling the lower flap panels. The invention relates to a presentation package with two essential components, each constituting a module.

The components are made from sheet material such as cardboard, corrugated cardboard or plastic, each cut out with a cookie cutter then glued and folded back on itself by the packaging manufacturer, then delivered to the user who will volume it.

The aim is to very quickly volume the modules of the presentation packaging by simple unidirectional gestures, both during the stage before filling and at closing of the packaging and during the stage of situation at the point of sale.

To do this, two major devices have been developed and are claimed:

- a change of configuration of the transport / base module which is a container in transport situation and which becomes a support by being transformed by pressing in the upper part to become the base in presentation situation,

- maintaining the volume of the display module after volume by lateral pressure. A third additional device makes it possible to widen the base of the transport / pedestal module in a presentation situation.

There are many presentation packages and it is common to use three-component presentation packages: a transport envelope which contains a display filled with products, which envelope is then used as a support, base, or base on which the display rests, then an informative and attractive pediment inserted in the upper part of the display as disclosed in US Patent 4,191,288 of August 11, 1976.

Patent FR 2 781 304 of July 17, 1998 discloses a base provided with upper flap locks and retaining stops at the four corners at the top, but this base does not allow two different interior volumes to be obtained, one volume for transport , which it does not provide, and a volume for the presentation. In addition, insufficiently rigid and bearing in the upper part, it requires the addition of an internal spider to support the load of the products to be presented.

US Patent 5,315,936 of February 22, 1993 discloses a display unit with a single column of rectangular horizontal section after volume setting by rotation of the side walls.

This display is made from two components and not just one and its volume is made by pivoting walls and not by lateral pressure.

Display modules with two columns of cells are rarer than those with a single column. However, patent CH 672 238 of May 16, 1986 discloses an assembly open on two opposite faces. In addition to its hexagonal horizontal section which is not very economical in volume for transport as well as for presentation, this display is made from two components (external sheet and internal sheet) instead of one and the volume is mainly produced by vertical pressure. on the second central component. Furthermore, the folding of the outer sheet onto itself, prior to use, is carried out according to horizontal and vertical articulation folds during several successive operations and not according to a horizontal articulation fold in a single operation .

The nesting of lugs in notches is necessary to stabilize the volume setting at the end of assembly.

The present invention overcomes the disadvantages of the previous cited patents.

First, each module is made from a single component.

During manufacturing, each module is folded and glued on itself in a single operation.

The transport module / base is of variable geometry. Initially for transport, the height is maximum to contain, without loss of internal volume, the display module filled with products (or not) and the additional pediment if necessary. In a second step, after removing the contents and by simply pressing vertically on the top, the volume is reduced in height to form a receptacle receiving the base of the display module and the products and to release the projecting stops at the four corners of the receptacle. Specific locks for assembling the flaps at the top of the base / transport module allow its upper flaps to remain integral in the two volume configurations, while allowing them to be moved when the configuration changes, and to support the load when the display module rests on the base module.

The presentation module, folded back on itself during manufacture, is set in volume, by simple pressure on two of its lateral edges, to receive the products to be transported and for sale and its horizontal section then takes a generally star shape at six branches which indirectly allows the alveoli to deploy easily. This star configuration allows the side panels, thus constrained by the antagonism of the folds of their inner and outer edges, to maintain the position set in volume so that the star fits into a horizontal rectangular section delimited by the four outer edges .

Figure 1 is an external perspective view of the presentation packaging object of the invention, after cutting by stamping with a punch and then gluing and folding by the manufacturer, volume and assembly by the user in a complete configuration of presentation at the point of sale.

Figure 2 is a flat exterior view of the transport / base module after cutting with a cookie cutter and before gluing and folding on itself.

Figure 3 is an external perspective view of the transport module / base after volume setting, filling and closing by the user to give it the transport configuration.

FIG. 4 is an external perspective view of this same transport / base module in base configuration after setting in volume, filling, transport, removal of the content, pressing on the upper part by the user to give it the base configuration and folding of the lower flap panels to release the extendable feet.

FIGS. 5 are partial and enlarged top views of the upper surface of the transport / base module detailing the positions of the specific locks between upper flaps and the respective position possibilities of their male and female parts.

Figure 6 is an exterior flat view of the display module after die-cutting and before gluing and folding on itself.

FIG. 7 is an exterior flat view of this same display module after cutting with a cookie cutter and gluing and folding on itself as the packaging manufacturer provides it to the user conditioner-packer.

FIG. 8 is an external perspective view from above of this same display module after volume setting by the user conditioner-packer by pressure on the vertical lateral edges (see arrows) to obtain the transport and presentation configuration.

According to Figure 1, the presentation packaging object of the invention consists of two essential components: at the base, the transport module / base (1) which is the transport container transformable into a base for presentation and the display module with cells (2) which is superimposed on it.

The pediment (3), inserted in the upper part of the display is an optional component intended to increase the communication surface to inform and attract the consumer, is not the subject of claims.

According to FIGS. 2, 3, 4, 5-1 and 5-2, the transport / base module (1) is defined as follows by a succession of side face panels (4, 5, 6, 7), the the latter is extended by a panel or assembly tab (8). The first side face panel (4) is connected to the second (5) by a hinge fold (9), the second side face panel (5) is connected to the third (6) by a hinge fold (10 ), the third side face panel (6) is connected to the fourth (7) by a hinge ply (11), the fourth side face panel (7) is connected to the assembly panel / lug (8) by a hinge fold (12).

In a direction perpendicular to this succession of side face panels, and on a first side, each side face panel is extended by a bottom flap panel (13) of the package to which it is connected by an articulation fold. (14).

The transport / plinth module shown is intended to cover the display module over its entire height, the latter being covered laterally, in this case, by the succession of side face panels (4, 5, 6, 7) including their panels respective splitting (4-3, 4-4, 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4, 6-3, 6-4, 7-1, 7-2, 7-3, 7-4 ) and the extensions of these side face panels constituted by the lower flap panels (13). In this embodiment shown there is no bottom during transport, the display module thus capped rests directly on the handling pallet.

There are two types of lower flap panels:

- the panels of small lower flaps (13-4 and 13-6) which extend the panels of corresponding side faces (4 and 6 respectively). These panels with small lower flaps have female notches allowing them to be locked by entanglement with

- the panels with large lower flaps (13-5 and 13-7) which extend the corresponding side face panels (5 and 7 respectively). These panels with large lower flaps have male outgrowths which become entangled in the female notches of the panels with small lower flaps previously mentioned.

The side face panels (5 and 7) which are extended by the panels of large lower flaps (13-5 and 13-7) are split opposite the receptacle to form projecting legs extending from both sides. 'other at the base of the transport / base module to increase its stability after setting in volume in the base configuration.

This fractionation by cutting of the lower parts of the side face panels and of the flap panels which extend them breaks down as follows:

- a first part (5-1 and 7-1) connected and articulated by means of a double outward fold (14-1) to the side face panel in which it is fully included is connected by a second fold d inward articulation (14-2), interrupted by crenellations, at

- a second part (5-2 and 7-2), straddling the side panel (5 and 7 respectively) and the large lower flap panel (13-5 and 13-7 respectively) itself connected by an outward hinge fold (14-3) to the large lower flap panel (13-5 and 13-7 respectively).

The ends of the notches substantially aligned with the articulation pleat (14) of the base of the base constitute the edges of the extendable feet which rest on the pallet or on the ground like the rest of the panels of large lower flaps, after their folding back to 90 ° relative to the side panels, to increase the stability of the transport / plinth module in plinth configuration.

When the transport / plinth module is placed in volume in plinth configuration, when the panels of lower flaps are folded back so as to overlap them by entanglement and give them a position substantially perpendicular to that of the panels of lateral faces, by a combined and antagonistic action folds (14-1, 14-3) with the fold (14-2), the crenellated part of the first part (5-1, 7-1) of the extendable legs moves away towards the outside of the plane of the panels side faces and this position is maintained by the second part (5-2, 7-2) connected to the panels of large lower flaps secured to each other by nesting.

Without prejudice to the invention, the lower flap panels (13) can be of a different type and shape from those shown, for example, the height of the transport / base module can be that of the display module then covered laterally by the side faces and lower flaps can be folded up under the display module during transport.

In this direction perpendicular to this succession of side face panels, and on the side opposite to the previous one, each side face panel (4, 5, 6, 7) is extended by an upper flap panel of the package (15, 16 , 17, 18 respectively) to which it is connected by a hinge ply (19, 20, 21, 22 respectively) preferably double. This first line of articulation folds (19, 20, 21, 22) is used to fold the panels of the flaps over 180 ° inwards in the base configuration of the transport / base module (fig. 4). For this same configuration and parallel to the preceding folds and of substantially equivalent length, a second line of articulation folds (23, 24, 25, 26) is created to facilitate folding. Finally, a third line of articulation folds (27, 28, 29, 30), also parallel to the preceding folds and of substantially equivalent length, is created to fold the panels of the upper flaps in the two configurations: folding at the place (ie from outside to inside) and 90 ° for the transport configuration (fig. 3), and folding upside down (ie from inside to outside called inverted folding) at 90 ° for base configuration (fig. 4). Each side face panel (4, 5, 6, 7) is thus divided into two additional parts, fractionation panels included in the upper part of the side face panel itself, for the first time (4-3, 5-3 , 6-3, 7-3 respectively) between the first line of articulation folds (19, 20, 21, 22 respectively) and the second line of articulation folds (23, 24, 25, 26 respectively) and a second time (4-4, 5-4, 6-4, 7-4 respectively) between the second line of articulation folds (23, 24, 25, 26 respectively) and the third line of articulation folds (27 , 28, 29 and 30 respectively). The height of each of its parts in the direction perpendicular to the fold lines described above, is substantially equivalent to half the depth of the receptacle to be obtained in base configuration.

Assembly and locking devices are provided in the panels of the upper flaps. These are female recesses (31) in the internal upper flap panels (15 and 17), and male pivoting articulated lugs (32) in the external upper flap panels (16 and 18).

The specificity of these assembly devices is due to the position and dimensions of the female recesses (31), larger than for current locks, which allow the articulated male studs (32), after having been pivoted 90 ° to the position of locking and without obligation of intermediate disassembly, to move inside the female recesses when the upper flap panels change position from the transport configuration to the base configuration. See Figures 5-1 and 5-2.

Complementary folds (33) are provided on the outer upper flap panels (16 and 18) to reduce their rigidity during the configuration change.

During the manufacture of the packaging, after the die-cutting phase, and after partial gluing of the panel or assembly tab (8), the transport module / base is folded back on itself according to the articulation fold (11) between the third side face panel and the fourth, then according to the articulation fold (9) between the first and the second side face panel. This operation makes it possible to obtain a generally folded packaging module of the half-box or flap box type known as the American box used after volume setting in the transport configuration, upper flap panels (15,16,17,18) folded at 90 ° according to the third fold line (27, 28, 29.30). When the transport / pedestal module is in pedestal configuration, the folding of the upper flap panels releases stops (34) projecting at the four corners in the upper corners of the module. It is in these angular stops that the projecting side panels of the display module come to bear and be maintained thanks to the spring effect when the display module rests on the panels of external upper flaps (16, 18) of the transport module / base in base configuration.

According to Figures 6, 7 and 8, the display module is constituted as follows.

An axis of symmetry A-A, used as a folding axis next, delimits two identical and symmetrical halves in a first direction. On either side of this axis in an identical and symmetrical manner, the following panels are defined in a second direction perpendicular to the first:

- middle partition panels (35) discontinuous due to the cutting of a part (36-1 and 36-2) of the cells (36), then in continuity in this same second direction and connected by articulation folds (37),

- the first side panels (38) on either side of the middle partition panels (35), which include the remainder of the cells (36-3), and which are themselves extended and connected by articulation folds ( 39) to

- second side panels (40), themselves extended and connected by articulation folds (41) to

- panels or assembly tabs (42).

Recesses (43), of shape and dimensions substantially identical to the parts of the cells (36-3) cut from the first side panels, are arranged in the second panels to facilitate the opening and the volume of the cells (36) .

Without prejudice to the invention, the presentation packaging shown has only two cells per column, it is possible to reduce or increase the number without changing the fundamental characteristics of the invention.

By overlapping the axis A-A, double articulation plies (44) connect the common ends of the middle partition panels and double articulation plies (45) connect the common ends of the assembly panels or lugs (42). After the die-cutting manufacturing phase, the gluing folding manufacturing phase allows glue to be deposited on the middle partition panels (35) and on the panels or δ

assembly tabs (42) then fold the blank over itself around the axis AA to transform the presentation module (2) shown in Figure 6 into a presentation module, shown in Figure 7, ready to be set by the user as shown in Figure 8.

In order to give the display module the spring effect which will allow it to retain the volume shown in FIG. 8 and to rest on the stops (34) of the transport module / base, two types of articulation plies are used to make the vertical articulation folds (37, 39, 41). Referring to a set of two panels on either side of an articulation fold, the folds intended to fold one or the other of these panels or both towards the inside of the packaging are the folds most commonly used in comparison with folds intended to fold one or the other of these panels or both towards the outside of the packaging which are called inverted folds.

Thus, the folds (37) between the middle partition panels (35) and the first side panels (38) are simple folds towards the outside, therefore inverted, the folds (39) between the first side panels (38) and the second side panels (40) are double folds inwards, and finally, the folds (41) between the second side panels (40) and the assembly tab panels (42) are again folds towards the exterior, therefore inverted, but double.

The type and number of folds previously described combined with differences in width of the side panels in the second direction, direction of the succession of the side panels and middle partition, of the order of mm in favor of the first side panel at the expense of second, creates the opposing forces and the tensions which allow the display module, forced to adopt the star configuration shown in FIG. 8, to maintain this configuration in volume without other means and to bear on the stops (34) of the transport module /basement.

To force the horizontal section of the display module to adopt the desired star configuration, the user sets up this display module by applying opposite forces to the free vertical edges (46) of the assembly panels / lugs (42) (see arrows in FIGS. 7 and 8) to bring these panels (42) closer to one another and so that their free edge (46) is inscribed in a quadrilateral delimited by the folds of its vertical edges (39) common to two types of side panels, until bringing the free edges (46) of the assembly panels to the middle of two of the opposite faces of the quadrilateral in which it is inscribed and putting the articulation plies (41) practically into contact, between the second side panels and the assembly panels, and the articulation plies (37) between the middle partition panels and the first side panels.

The presentation packaging which is the subject of the invention is applied to the transport of the packaging components and their contents and then to their placing in the point of sale, with maintenance of the products contained in the cells and accessibility to the content by at least two opposite sides, within reach of the consumer in height without having to bend down.

The most commonly transported and presented contents are deli meats, confectionery or any other prepackaged or naked food placed in bulk in the cells.

Small pieces of hardware, electrical equipment, automobile accessories or any other object intended for sale in stores or large distribution areas are also contained and presented in the packaging object of the invention.

Claims (6)
