Abstract

The fabric comprises a supporting backing, for example a knit, and a nap part forming an extra thickness on the face side and consisting of threads tied to the backing by means of tying loops. According to the invention, the nap covers the fabric only over particular specific zones 8, and the backing has a loose set. The fabric thus has a decoration visible, on the one hand, because of the relief of the nap and, on the other hand, as a result of the transparence of the backing in the zones 7 not covered by the nap. The decoration of the fabric is preferably obtained by producing an impression on the reverse by means of a paste containing a chemical agent capable of degrading the nap and not the backing.

La présente invention est relative aux étoffes présentant un décor en relief, notamment du type velours, et aux procédés permettant d'obtenir ce décor. Elle concerne les étoffes destinées plus particulièrement mais non exclusivement à l'ameublement et à l'habillement. Claims

Method according to claim 4 characterized in that, the file being in chemical fibers and the hair in cellulosic fibers, the chemical agent consists of a paste based on sodium hydrogen sulphate and in that after deposition of the agent chemical on the file, the fabric is subjected to carbonization at a temperature between 1500C and 1700C and the hair is removed during a subsequent wash.

6. Method according to claims 4 and 5 characterized in that the deposition of the chemical agent is made by printing, in the flat frame or by rotary cylinder.
