Abstract

Two gears c and d which are independent of one another are placed side by side on the shaft B. Two arms D and D' arranged in a cross configuration, also pivot on the shaft B, and at each end carry two secured gears a, b; a', b'; e, f; e', f'. By mounting these various elements they determine an anchoring which makes it impossible to change the angle at which they are assembled; but by retaining one of the arms and by exerting a load on the other, the whole of the device is braked. By mounting another group on the same shaft B and joining the gears c, d and c', d' in pairs whilst the satellite gears are mounted on a rigid cross (spider), the same braking phenomenon is exhibited, if one cross (spider) is immobilised and a load is exerted on the other.
