Abstract

1. A lock for a slide fastener (2) provided with at least one cursor (3, 4) carrying a handle (5, 6) formed with a hole (7, 8) and pivoting with respect to the cursor (3, 4), including a casing (10) fixed to the volume (1) to be closed by the slide fastener (2), said casing (10) being provided with an opening (14) for receiving at least one handle (5, 6) of a cursor (3, 4) of the fastener (2), and a mobile latching member (13) extending through said opening (14) and the hole (7, 8) of the handle (5, 6), characterized by the fact that said latching member is constituted of a cam (13) rigidly connected to a rotor (12) controlled by a coded key, said cam being mounted at the end of said rotor (12) which is opposite the introduction of the key, the pivoting axis of rotor (12) being substantially orthogonal to the slide fastener (2) in the region of said casing (10).

  Lock for zipper.

  The invention relates to a lock for closing at

  slide, for example in soft luggage.

  The use of zippers has received a great deal of development, particularly in soft luggage, and the locking of such closures, in order to prevent unauthorized access within the closed volume by the zipper, is become a

important problem.

  In certain known zippers, the handle of the slider carries an additional piece which constitutes an element of a lock, the rest of the lock being fixed to the assembly to be closed. These locks have various disadvantages, mainly that of requiring an additional special piece attached to the handle and that of not allowing the use of

  two-slider zippers for opening

  zipper in two directions

opposed.

  With this type of zipper having two sliders, the common practice has been to use a padlock cooperating with the hole normally provided in each handle of

  sliders, to lock the zipper.

  This solution also has various disadvantages.

  It can not be used with a -

  slider with a single slider unless

  special end piece to cooperate with the padlock.

  In addition, the padlock hangs outside the zipper and is easily torn off, for example when traveling for luggage. Also, for a closure with two cursors, the locking can be performed in any position of these sliders, which does not give a good appearance. The appearance of the padlock itself is usually bad and the padlock can easily be lost when

  In the example shown, a flexible bag 1 is closed by a zipper 2 provided with two sliders 3,4 which each carry a handle 5, 6 provided with a through-hole 7,8 respectively. As usual, handles 5,6 are pivoted within certain limits

relative to their slider 3,4.

  A lock 9 according to the invention is attached to the bag 1, in the vicinity of the middle of the zipper 2. The lock 9 comprises a casing 10 fixed outside the bag 1 and a rear lid 11 (FIG. 2) fixed on the casing 10 inside the bag 1. The casing 10 carries a locking barrel 12 controlled by a coded key (not shown) and which is pivoted in the casing about an axis substantially orthogonal to the plane of the suitcase and zipper 2. Claims (1)

Claim.   Lock for zipper provided with at least one slider carrying a handle provided with a hole and pivotable relative to the slider, characterized in that it comprises a rotor (12) controlled by a coded key and mounted in a housing (10) fixed to the volume (1) to be closed by the zipper (2), said rotor (12) being pivotable about an axis substantially orthogonal to the zipper (2) in the region of said housing (10) and carrying a locking cam (13) integral with the rotating rotor (12), said housing (10) being provided with an opening (14) for receiving at least one handle (5, 6) of a slider (3, 4) of the closure (2), said locking cam (13) passing through said opening (14) through the hole (7, 8) of said handle (5, 6) in the locked position of the lock (9) and at least partially exposing said opening (14) in the unlocking position of the lock (9).
