Abstract

The present invention relates to a carpet or mat containing an insecticidal or disinfecting agent, which comprises a surface layer 1 forming a coating consisting of a support 2 on which bristles or wires 3 are fastened. This carpet or mat is characterised in that it comprises, below the surface layer 1 forming a coating, an intermediate layer 4 made of a flexible and elastic material pierced right through by holes which are closed, opposite the surface layer 1 forming a coating, by a bottom 7 fastened to the intermediate layer 4, and in that the disinfecting or insecticidal agent 6, used in powder form, is contained in the holes 5 of the intermediate layer 4 and is blown, by means of a pump effect, through the support 2.

Description

 The present invention relates to a carpet or mat containing a disinfectant or insecticide agent.

 Carpets, mats, wipers or the like are already known which are arranged to contain a disinfectant or insecticide agent. Such a carpet is, for example, described in French patent application 2,497,451. This carpet or wiper consists of a composite assembly comprising a surface layer or covering, of the conventional carpet or carpet type, and, below of this coating, a support in which a cartridge is inserted ensuring the diffusion of a disinfectant or insecticide agent b liquid or solid character under the effect of the pressure of an individual putting the foot on the carpet or mat.

 The invention, applied to this type of carpet or mat, aims to promote the diffusion of the disinfectant or insecticide agent in the surface layer constituting the coating, as soon as a pressure is applied to the carpet or mat.

 To this end, this carpet or mat containing a disinfectant or insecticide agent, which comprises a surface layer forming a coating constituted by a support on which hairs or threads are fixed, is characterized in that it comprises, below the surface layer forming a coating, an intermediate layer of flexible and elastic material pierced right through with closed holes, opposite the surface layer forming a coating, by a bottom fixed to the intermediate layer, and in that the disinfectant or insecticide agent , used in powder form, is contained in the holes of the intermediate layer and is blown, by a pump effect, through the support of the surface layer when pressure is exerted on the carpet or mat.

 Figure 3 is a partial vertical sectional view of the mat when the latter is crushed by the foot of a person.

 The doormat according to the invention comprises a surface layer 1 forming a covering of the carpet or carpet type, this surface layer comprising a support 2, for example woven, support on which hairs or threads 3 are fixed.

 According to the invention the doormat also comprises, below the surface layer forming a covering 1, an intermediate layer 4 of flexible and elastic material, for example of polyurethane foam. This material must have the property of being able to crush very easily under the pressure of the foot.

 This layer of flexible and elastic material 4 is pierced right through with a number of holes 5 each containing a disinfectant or pesticide 6 in powder form. Each hole 5 thus constitutes a cell filled with powder, a cell which is closed, at its lower end, by a bottom 7 extending over the entire surface of the mat and which is fixed, by any suitable means, to the intermediate layer 4. The bottom 7 can be permanently fixed to the underside of the intermediate layer 4 or alternatively it can be removable, to allow each cell 5 to be recharged with disinfectant or insecticide 6.

 FIG. 3 illustrates the way in which the disinfectant or insecticide agent 6 contained in each cell 5 is distributed. It can be seen that, when pressure is exerted on the mat, for example by the foot of a person, the intermediate layer 4 of flexible and elastic material is crushed, which has the effect of reducing the diameter of each cell 5. Under the effect of this adduction in diameter and thickness, the disinfectant or in secticide product 6 is "pumped" or driven upwards, owing to the fact that the lower orifice of each cell 5 is closed by the bottom 7 The disinfecting or insecticidal agent 6 is thus propelled through the permeable support 2 and this agent diffuses through the hairs 3, up to the sole of the shoe of the person who set foot on the doormat.

 This action occurs regardless of the origin of the pressure exerted on the mat: we can indeed design on the same principle a flea mat for animals. In this case, it is when the animal settles on the carpet that the pesticide product 6 is driven upwards as a result of the same pumping effect.
