Abstract
Description
CONDITIONNEMENT POUR DOSES UNITAIRES DE PRODUITS
ET SES APPLICATIONS, NOTAMMENT AU STOCKAGE
ET A LA PREPARATION DE MILIEUX DE CULTURES
POUR MICROORGANISMES.PACKAGING FOR UNIT DOSES OF PRODUCTS
AND ITS APPLICATIONS, IN PARTICULAR TO STORAGE
AND THE PREPARATION OF CROP MEDIA
FOR MICROORGANISMS.
The present invention relates to packaging for unit doses of products intended in particular for the storage and preparation of constituents of culture media for microorganisms.
It is known that preparations for culture media are currently sold in batches of 500 g, 1 kg or more, non-sterile and that the preparation of culture media from these preparations constitutes a long operation since it is necessary to weigh the desired quantity of preparation, dissolve it, autoclave it to make it sterile before distributing it in the containers (petri dishes for example) intended for the culture of microorganisms.
The development of new preparations has revealed the possibility and the economic interest of obtaining these preparations in the form of unit doses making it possible to prepare the culture media only as and when the laboratory real needs arise.
The inventors therefore applied themselves to perfect packaging in unit doses which are sterile and sterile handling throughout their use and have developed a new packaging whose originality consists in that it is essentially constituted by l association of a sealed container made of sterile translucent or transparent synthetic material, one end of which is closed by an oblique weld line, and a removable protective cap made of a plasticized metal sheet, suitable for covering with a seat the part of the container closed by said oblique weld line, the head of said cap also being closed by an oblique weld line.
The invention will be better understood from elsewhere and its advantages will emerge clearly from the following description of several embodiments of the packaging according to the invention, with reference to the appended schematic drawing in which

Fig. It and 12 are perspective views of two other embodiments of the packaging according to the invention.
In the figures, (1) generally designates the packaging, (2) the container, (3) the packaged product and (4) the removable protective cap.
The packaging (1) according to the invention consists of the combination of the container (2) shown in FIG. 1 and the cap (4) shown in FIG. 2.
3), ovale (fig. 4) ou rectangulaire (fig. The container (2) is a tube or a waterproof bag made of a translucent or transparent plastic material capable of withstanding an autoclave passage at 120 "C. The section of this tube or this bag can be round (fig. 3), oval (fig. 4) or rectangular (fig.
5); le choix de cette section est motivé par l'aspect physique du ou des composants du produit (3), spécialement quand il s'agit d'un mélange de poudre et de comprimé comme représenté à la figure l. 5); the choice of this section is motivated by the physical aspect of the product component (s) (3), especially when it is a mixture of powder and tablet as shown in Figure l.
One end of the container (2) is closed by the oblique weld line (5).
The cap (4) shown in Figure 2 is made from a plasticized sheet of a metal such as aluminum; the metal part located on the external face allows sterilization of the cap by passing through a flame.
The internal dimensions of the cap (4) are very close to those of the part of the container (2) close to the oblique weld line (5). The cap head (4) is also closed by an oblique weld line (7).
We see in Figure 6, the packaging according to the invention consisting of the association of the container (2) and the cap (4).
The container (2) having been filled with the appropriate dose of product (3) is sealed by closing the welding line (5); the cap (4) is then placed on the part of the container (2) close to the oblique weld line (5) its dimensions allow it to cover and protect this part so as to avoid any passage of external contaminant, while remaining removable during subsequent operations of opening the container (2).
The length of the cap (4) is such that it does not entirely cover the container (2); the end of the transparent container opposite the weld line (5) therefore remains visible, even after the cap has been fitted; -we can thus visually check the physical state of the product (3) before opening the packaging and, once this opening is made, ensure that the container is completely empty.
The cap also advantageously comprises a welding tab (8) provided to facilitate its operation and which can also serve as a support for possible inscriptions.
The use of the packaging according to the invention will now be described in detail with reference to Figures 6, 7 and 8.
Before any opening of the packaging, the cap (4) remaining in place on the container (2), the state of the product (3) is checked by the visible part of the non-pouring end and in particular, in the case of powders, their good flow.
The end (7) of the cap (4) is blazed in the flame of a Bunsen burner, then this end is cut obliquely along the line (7a) with scissors, also flamed.
Then slide the cap (4) using the tab (8) so as to release the end of the container (2) terminated by the oblique weld line (5); the product (3) is packed downwards by gently tapping the other end and the line (5) is cut with the same flamed scissors, thus constituting the pouring spout (6).
It then suffices to sterile pour the product (3) into the preparation bottle (9) of the medium.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 9 and 10, the container (2) has, at its two ends, a flared shape, thus limiting the movement of the movable cap (4) before use, similarly, once the end (7) of the cap (4) cut, said cap remains in the middle part of the container (2), which facilitates the pouring of the content (3) into the preparation bottle.
Other shapes can of course, and without departing from the scope of the invention, be given to the container (2).
In the embodiment shown for example in the figure
re 11, the part opposite to the oblique weld line <5) has a volume much greater than the part juxtaposing this weld line, which gives the packaging the appearance of a bottle. Forms of this type can be advantageous for certain applications of media for seedlings, for insects, for fermenter, etc.
Furthermore, if the medium constituted by the - product (3) comprises two substances which cannot be stored together, for example due to chemical incompatibility or a difference in method of preparation, the container (2) may comprise (Fig. 12) two parts (2a) and (2b) separated by a transverse watertight weld line (10); once the cap (4) released by cutting the oblique weld line (7), the oblique weld line (5) also cut and the product contained in the part (2a) poured, just slide the cap (4) to release the upper end of the part (2b); then to cut the transverse weld line (10) to firstly separate the first part (2a) and secondly ensure the opening of the part (2b).
Thus it is possible to pour the content of the container (2a) into boiling water and to pour the contents of the container (2b) only afterwards, after cooling, which is necessary for example in the case of media. nutrients containing thermolabile growth factors. The container (2b) can thus contain a liquid product intended to be poured - into the preparation bottle after cooling (for example, blood agar).
As is obvious and as is clear from the above, the present invention is not limited to the single embodiments described above by way of examples; on the contrary, it embraces all the variants thereof, whatever in particular the nature of the product to be packaged, the dimensions both of the container (2) and of the cap (4) and the nature of the metal and of the resin used for their manufacture.
