Description

 The present invention relates to paint rollers used for applying paint to a wall or any other surface.

 These rollers are rotatably mounted around the bent end of a metal rod carried by a grip handle. They include linings of different types depending on the nature of the paint to be applied. Thus, for the application of a conventional paint, for example a water paint or an oil paint, rollers are used which have a woolen lining or the like. On the other hand, for the application of a glycerophthalic lacquer or enamel, the rollers of this kind cannot be used because they do not make it possible to obtain a perfectly smooth surface and moreover these rollers risk leaving lint of wool on the painted surface.

 For the application of lacquer or enamel, it is therefore necessary to use rollers comprising a trim with short hairs or rollers of synthetic foam.

 However, rollers of the latter type have the disadvantage of not marrying the bumps and hollows of the surface to be painted in a manner as satisfactory as the wool-trimmed rollers. By the way, the yield obtained with such rollers is lower than that obtained with wool-filled rollers.

 This is mainly due to the fact that due to the nature of the lining, these rollers cannot take on the same amount of paint as the woolen rollers, so it is necessary to interrupt very frequently. their application to impregnate them again with paint.

 This is why the subject of the present invention is an accessory intended to be adapted on a wool-trimmed roller in order to be able to use it for the application of a lacquer or a glyerophthalic enamel or of any other brilliant painter of similar nature. To this end, the present accessory consists of an extensible sleeve of mesh fabric or the like, preferably of synthetic threads, one end of which has a tip having an opening with elastic edge, however the opposite end is closed or arranged in similar way. Thus, this sleeve can be easily adapted on a paint roller with wool trim, by being threaded thereon. This makes it possible to transform the possible use of such a roller.

 - Figure 3 shows such a roller after adaptation of an accessory according to the invention.

 As already indicated, this accessory consists of an extensible sleeve 1 made of mesh fabric or the like. Preferably, it is a synthetic yarn fabric of the type of mesh fabrics constituting the stockings or tights of women. This sleeve has a generally cylindrical shape.

However, its ends include a tip 2 having an opening, the internal edge 3 of which is elastic. This elasticity can be obtained by the mode of weaving of each end piece. However, it can also be ensured, or reinforced, by the presence of an elastic ribbon housed in a hem.

 To set up this accessory on a paint roller 4, simply open the nozzle 2 from one of its ends to thread it on this roller as shown in Figure 2. When the sleeve 1 has been completely threaded on the roller, its tip engaged first comes to tighten elastically against the corresponding end of this roller. As for the end piece of the opposite end of this sleeve, it is then applied against the opposite end of this same roller. Thus this sleeve is perfectly fixed on the roller and it cannot be detached from it during use of the latter.

 On this subject it should be noted that, due to its extensibility, the present sleeve can be adapted on rollers of greater or lesser length and of greater or lesser diameter. However, two or more different sizes of sleeves can optionally be provided in order to be able to adapt to rolls of very different dimensions.

 After fitting this accessory on a wool-filled roller 4, the latter can be used for applying a lacquer or glycerophthalic enamel.

Indeed, the outer surface of the roller is now formed by the sleeve 1 and no longer by the woolen lining which simply constitutes the support of this sleeve. However, the latter constitutes for its part a perfect application surface for a glycerophthalic lacquer or enamel.

 The roller thus formed allows the advantages inherent in a wool-trimmed roller to be retained without having the disadvantages when applying a lacquer or enamel. In fact, the external sleeve retains the hairs and fibers of the woolen lining, preventing them from being torn off by the lacquer and their sticking to it. Born at the same time, thanks to its particular nature (mesh fabric or the like), this sleeve allows the passage of paint through it so that the woolen trim can be normally loaded with paint during the impregnation of this roller and that it can then restore this paint during the application of the roller on the surface to be painted.

 Thus, this roller has advantages over the rollers usually used for the application of a lacquer or enamel paint. In fact, thanks to the presence of the internal roller with wool lining, the present roller perfectly matches the bumps and the bumps of the surface to be painted, for example a ceiling or a wall. In addition, this roller provides better performance with less fatigue.

 Indeed, due to the very presence of the woolen lining, it can be loaded with a significant amount of paint during each of its impregnations. Under these conditions this reduces the number of interruptions necessary during the application of the paint.

 Another important advantage of this accessory lies in the fact that it saves a painting company, or an individual, from having to have two different types of paint rollers to be able to perform work. different. This is therefore an important practical advantage as well as a considerable saving.

 Of course, the accessory according to the invention is not limited to the single example described above. Thus instead of having an open end at each of its ends, the present roller could have a single end of this type at one of its ends, its opposite end then being closed. In addition, the section of the threads used can vary, as well as the section of the stitches.

 Due to its low price, this accessory can be discarded after use. However, it can also be cleaned after each use. This accessory can advantageously be sold in pouches containing a series of several sleeves of this kind.

 In addition, the present invention also relates to the hanging roller, dual-use, consisting of the combination of a wool-trimmed roller and an outer sleeve, with mesh fabric, as described above.

 1 - Accessory for a paint roller with a woolen lining or the like, characterized in that it consists of an extensible sleeve (1) of mesh fabric or the like, preferably of synthetic threads, one end of which has an end piece (2) having an opening with elastic edge (3), while the opposite end is closed or similarly arranged, so that this sleeve (1) can be threaded and fitted onto a paint roller (4) with a lining wool to transform its use.  2 - Hanging roller, characterized in that it is constituted by the combination of a roller (4) with woolen lining and an external sleeve (1) of mesh fabric, or the like threaded on this roller.
