Abstract

The petrol tank cap comprises a lockable stopper (12) coupled to a flap door (20). The stopper moves onto a seating plate (5) to effect closure. The plate is fixed in a body work recess (1) and a compressible sealing ring (4) is used between the plate and the bodywork recess. Peripheral screws (10) fix the plate to the body and are located with significant play, the arrangement permitting the centering of the plate relative to the stopper. The screws may also secure the pipe (3) leading to the petrol tank, engaging bolts (9) sited behind a pipe flange (7) and mounted with their heads (10a) in the floor of the recess.
