Abstract

Each tube has a male and female end. The male end is formed by fixing to the tube, at 180 degrees to each other, two plates (4) with a slot (6) forming a rounded bayonet projection (7). The female end of the connection has matching bayonet slots (15) at 180 degrees formed in a tube (10) welded over the main tube and into which the male connector fits. A further sliding outer tube (18) fits over the tube (10) and carries two keys (20), which locate in extensions (12) to the bayonet slots. When the connector is assembled, the sliding tube is lowered so that the keys lock the bayonets (4) into the slots (15).
