Abstract

The dryer is of the type in which the lengths are hung over horizontal rods which convey the lengths through a drying chamber. The chamber comprises a series of compartments each vertically partitioned into downflow and upflow air ducts. Downstream of the ends of the pasta lengths in the direction of airflow approaching the pasta, the conveyor passage is vertically extended for a short distance beyond the pasta. An oscillatory damper is fitted in the extension of the passage so that airflow through the extension can be cyclically opened and then at least partly closed. This is an industrial dryer for cut lengths of pasta prods. e.g. spaghetti. The oscillating damper ensures that all the prod.is consistently dried even when air is employed at a higher temp. than normal in order to increase throughput.
