Abstract

The plate (10) contains poultry food and is for attachment (15) to an automatic food dispenser (16,17), being of a deformable construction enabling it to adopt either of two alternative shapes (11,12 or 11',12'). The two shapes are used at different stages in the chick-rearing process, using a central cone (11) and an edge wall (13) to define an annular floor (12). The change in shape modifies the floor width and entails pivoting the floor about its internal (19) and external (18) peripheral zones. It uses a catch to hold either shape. The two shapes tend to gather the food by the rim and at the foot of the cone respectively, and the former aligns the floor with the conical walls. The floor is 2.5 mm thick in a semi-rigid material, such as plastics.
