Abstract

The packaging case is between 10 and 30 metres long and of a robust construction, designed to maintain its profile in transit and to carry machine parts etc. It has a double floor reinforced by longitudinal beams (11) connected by transverse joists (18), a beam being fitted on each side, with auxiliary beams (12) to reinforce the main beams at the joints. The case body is made of plywood sheets (7,8), with vertical reinforcement (6) at the joints and with continuous reinforcement (5) along the upper periphery. Internal and external spacers are obviated and the design is such that handling is effected via two lifting points without the case suffering structural damage due to buckling. The case may be assembled on site, and the lifting points may accommodate slings or the fork of a lift-truck.
