Abstract

A mould for shaping molten wax into elongated forms has the component in contact with the wax made of silicone rubber. For moulding profiles such as cylindrical sticks having a length/diam. ratio more than 4. The mould walls are pref. defined by a layer of silicone rubber with through holes to define the cavities. The base of the cavities is provided by a complementary solid sheet of silicone rubber. Pref. as the mould components are parted, the former moves relative to a series of plungers which force the mouldings out of the cavities. Used esp. for making 'sticks' of wax based compsns., such as depilation waxes made from a blend of bees wax and resin, to facilitate parting of the mouldings from the mould. Suitable for casting processes using molten wax at e.g. 120 deg.C.
