Abstract

Tool for producing cast mouldings without any surface blemishes comprises a hollow casing which can be evacuated to distend an elastic pocket used for the mould cavity. Elastic pocket may be supported between a pair of solid blocks which can separate within the evacuated chamber to allow the pocket to dilate for moulding release. The casing may be pressurised to invert the pocket so that it projects from the mould mouth for ease of cleaning. Used for producing moulds from fragile materials, esp. cosmetic pastes, to provide a smooth surface finish, since no sliding occurs at the casting/mould interface, esp. for producing mouldings requiring an undercut without requiring multi-piece moulds with associated parting lines in the mould wall surface.
