Abstract

The ornamental chimney for an open fire has an outer hood (1) enclosing an inner hood (2). Inside the inner hood, at low level but concealed from view above the fire is a hot water boiler (10) with vertical tubes (11) through a rectangular tank filled with water, so that hot gases passing through the tubes heat the water. A short baffle strip (5) projects upwards around the top corner of the tank, and supported above this is a horizontal baffle (4) with a sloping undersurface, acting as a soot burner. A vertical glass cover plate (9) guided by side channels (17) can be raised and lowered in front of the fireplace.
