Abstract

The fan uses a drive motor with an external rotor to which the fan blades are directly attached. The motor is completely enclosed by a cylindrical conduit section with radial support struts (4,5,6) around one front end supporting the carrier plate for the stator. The support struts (4,5,6) are evenly spaced and the number of struts, together with the number of fan blades (11-15) are selected so that each is an odd number and the ratio of the fan blades to the struts is not a whole number, e.g there are 3 struts and 5 fan blades. The inside dia. of the conduit section is 73mm +- 10 per cent. The fan is compact and has low operating noise.
