Abstract

A method of packaging depilatory wax comprises filling a collapsible tube container. The wax can be melted inside the tube by heating the tube. Molten wax can then be extruded from the nozzle outlet of the tube and applied directly to an area of skin. As offered for sale, the tube is pref. filled with wax in the form of a fine powder which melts easily in the tube. The tube is pref. made of a soft metal or alloy, e.g. of lead and tin. The outlet nozzle of the tube pref. has an extrusion slot to serve as an applicator. Used to apply molten wax to an area of skin from which hair is to be removed. Wax can be applied directly from the tube without using a melting dish and spatula.

Description

The present invention is in the field of daily life necessities and more specifically relates to a new mode of presentation or packaging of depilatory wax, as well as a method for carrying out this mode of packaging.

 Usually the depilatory wax is supplied to the user in the form of hard plates which should be melted in a tank or other container; the tank can be heated in a water bath but the wax melting time is then very long; the tank can also be heated directly using a flame or an electrical resistance; in the latter case the fusion is faster but the temperature should be monitored using a thermometer in order to avoid possible burns during application; the application is generally made with a spatula.

A main object of the present invention is to eliminate the use of the above-mentioned tanks; a second object of the invention is to allow the rapid and safe use of the wax.

 According to the present invention, the aforementioned objects are achieved by a mode of presentation, or packaging, of the depilatory wax, mainly characterized in that the wax presented to the user is contained in a "tube", understood by this last term the small containers commonly used to present various products and in particular hygiene or beauty products such as toothpaste, skin cream, cosmetic cream, etc. I1 results from this mode of presentation, only after heating the tube by means of, for example, hot water available from a sink tap, the melted wax can be applied directly to the skin without the use of intermediate tanks or a spatula.

Advantageously, the wax contained in the tube is, at least when it is offered for sale, in the pulvirulent or finely granular state; it follows from this pulverulent state that, at least on first use, the wax can be very easily, that is to say fairly quickly, melted. This surprisingly rapid softening of the contents of the tube when it is in the pulverulent state, is explained at least partially by the migration by capillarity of the molten parts at the periphery towards the center of the tube. -This speed of fusion does not occur during the second use, but it should be noted that advantageously the tube contains the dose for an application; it will also be noted that if the content of the tube is not used entirely during the same application, the tube will have been deformed and flattened following this first application, and that the least amount of wax promotes the rapidity of the second melting although for the latter the wax is solidified in block.

Advantageously, the tube consists of a metal or soft alloy such as lead or tin, as is well known per se; it is thus a good conductor of heat to transmit it to the wax it contains. Advantageously also the threaded end of the tube is shaped as an applicator thanks to the elongated shape of its orifice. According to a variant of the mode of presentation of the invention, a screw-on applicator in the form of a spatula is added to the tube.

Another advantage of the presentation in the pulverulent state is the ease which this latter state allows for filling the tube. It will in fact be noted that the tubes are filled and closed by their bottom, the closure being effected by pinching and folding the edge of the bottom; it is therefore understandable that a rigid content would oppose the pinching of the tube and that the folding would be accompanied by frequent tears of the tube. Thus a method of filling a tube with depilatory wax consists in introducing wax previously put or reduced in the pulverulent state, in a tube of a metal or soft alloy.

 Advantageously, the introduction of the wax into the tube is carried out simultaneously for a plurality of tubes by means of a distributor, below which the tubes are fitted by their bottom; the outcropping of the pulverulent wax being produced in the distributor and the excess being evacuated, the plurality of tubes is subjected to compression by shaking or vibrations to bring the level of wax in the tubes to the level of folding, or folding , from the bottom of the tubes.

 In fig.l a distributor consists mainly of a hopper 1, the bottom plate 2 is provided with a plurality of openings such as 3, whose slightly clonic edges such as 4 protrude below the bottom 2; "tubes" such as 5 are fitted by their bottom around the edges 4; a blocking plate 6 provided with perforations of diameter very slightly greater than the diameter of the tubes, is fitted against the bottom after the tubes have been interlocked and maintains it during the following operations.

The filling operation consists in pouring into the hopper a quantity of powdered wax slightly greater than that necessary to fill all the tubes, then by transverse shaking to distribute the powder in the tubes, then using a squeegee to evacuate the excess.

Each tube then contains substantially the same amount of wax as its neighbors. Then, using a vibrator, the powder is packed into the tubes; during this operation the level of the powder in the tube then takes that indicated by 7 in FIG. 2a. I1 then suffices to remove the tubes to close them by their bottom.

The operation for closing a tube is shown in FIGS. 2: in 2b the tube is pinched by the edge 8 of its bottom, in 2c the edge 8 is folded twice on itself.

It is clear from these figures that the deformation of the content could not be obtained if it was a block of solid wax.

 In fig.3 a tube like that of fig. 2c is seen at the end after removing its cap; we note in this figure that the threaded end piece 9 has an orifice 10 of elongated shape.

In fig.4 a tube is supposed to contain softened or melted wax and a pressure on the tube causes the extrusion of a strip of wax 11 which can be as it is applied to the skin.

 In FIG. 5, a tube such as that of the preceding figures has received a screw-on applicator 12 in the form of a spatula which has the function of spreading the softened wax into a strip 13 much wider than the strip 11.

 It should be understood that the examples described above have been given by way of illustration and not militarily of the invention.

 Thus, in particular with regard to the tube filling process, this could be carried out tube by tube transferred automatically under a metering device, the transfer chain passing to successive stations at which the following packing operations are carried out, pinching and folding.

 The following claims alone define the scope of the invention.
