Description

It is usual to market products with a consistency of paste or cream in flexible metal or synthetic tubes; to use it, the user simply presses on the tube after removing the cap, in order to expel a certain amount of product. Mention may be made, by way of examples, of shoe polishes, toothpastes or cosmetic creams, or also of drugs, eye drops or the like.

It has also long been proposed to mount on the orifice of these tubes a pump acting by the combined effect of the depression it will create inside the tube and the atmospheric pressure on the walls of that -this. We can see two advantages. The pump will first of all measure the quantity of product delivered; it will then allow, at least in principle, since the user no longer has to press on the tube but on his head, to insert this tube in a rigid case opened by some orifice: this creates a cartridge facilitating handling and storage.

In reality, the very nature of the product makes it almost impossible to guarantee that the tube will flatten regularly from its distal end by chasing a constant dose until the contents are exhausted.

In practice, after several attempts to modify the pump outlets, another solution prevailed. It is a movable base formed by a piston placed in a rigid case with an internally cylindrical wall which will expel the product as and when it is used and, insofar as its tightness is sufficient, can thus replace the flexible tube. . It should be noted that one can add a spring to push back the bottom, then placing a simple valve on the orifice.

We can use a piston placed at the bottom of the case, which will gradually rise, in current use, along the internal face of the wall of the latter to drive the product up, where the pump socket is located , but also to an annular piston placed above the product in current use, that is to say mounted between said wall and a tubular portion with low grip, attached to the body of the pump or, sometimes, which may directly belong to it .

This reverse arrangement has several advantages. It makes it possible to reduce the height, increases stability during use and, using a low grip, reduces the inconvenience that could result from the residual presence of air bubbles inside. It should also be noted that if a standard model pump is used which has an integrated vent opening each time the operator intervenes, the latter will vent the upper compartment without, to balance its pressure, it there is to provide a special orifice on the case itself: there is therefore no more permanent communication, which improves the isolation of the product from the atmosphere.

The present invention relates to this type of packaging and proposes to facilitate filling.

When packaging the product, it is in practice necessary to have an assembled dispenser and, as a rule, impossible to fill through it; it will therefore be easily understood that it cannot normally be placed in advance.

Subject to this reservation, we can consider the most varied filling orders. In particular, when the movable bottom is reversed it is first possible to introduce the product, the piston, then the pump or the possible spring and the valve.

But we can inversely place the piston first, then inject the paste or the cream under its underside using an appropriate cannula passing through its central opening, after possible purging of the air which could have remained, then clear the cannula by retaining the plunger if necessary; the dispenser will then be put in place, preferably already assembled under its flange, then pushed in by a tool pressing on the flange to exert the laying effort on the container but also, advantageously, on the nozzle to keep it open, the product can thus be pushed back inside; as it is a pump and although the industry systematically uses self-priming pumps, it may be desirable for it to be primed in this way at the start. The above solution has the advantage of minimizing without excessive precautions the contact of the product with the external atmosphere.

To implement it, publication EP-A-0 193 054 proposes to first place the piston in a high position unmasking the outlet of an evacuation passage or air purge formed by an internal by-pass. then, after injection of the product, push the piston back into contact with the latter, at the end of assembly, using a stop driven by the upper part of the assembly, then also closing said bleed.

It even plans, using an attached intake tube, to use it as a nozzle for the filling cannula, and to fit the pump onto the seat formed at its upper outlet only during this final assembly phase. ; but in reality the practical implementation of such an operation seems extremely uncertain because the piston and the tube held by it alone float for almost its entire duration.

To fill a cartridge with an inverted movable bottom in the form of an annular piston and attached intake or injection tube operating by the central opening of this piston, protected from pollution, the invention proposes, on the contrary, to make it belong this tube has a well secured to the container which therefore constitutes with it and the piston the lower part of the cartridge.

According to an advantageous characteristic, the wall of this container will be made of two elements trapping the annular piston and, to avoid creating internal undercuts, the well will be connected to the narrowest zone of the upper element, that intended for receive the preassembled distributor, by a skeleton flange opening under the seat of the mounting and sealing gasket of said distributor on said container.

The filling will be carried out conveniently by raising the piston from a low position, the assembly finally receiving to seal its upper part.

  • figure 1 : un conditionnement selon l'invention,
  • figure 2 : le remplissage du récipient correspondant.
An advantageous example will be described below with reference to the drawings, which represent, in vertical section:
  • FIG. 1: a packaging according to the invention,
  • Figure 2: filling the corresponding container.

The container itself is visible in Figure 2, during filling. It consists of a cylindrical case 11 capped with a socket 12 in the form of a cover fitted at 12 a , having internally a well 13 whose lower tubular portion 13 a will serve as an intake tube, connected to the external belt 12 b of the bush 12 by a double cylindrical shell 13 b creating an internal chamber provided with a lower seat 13 c and, under a ribbing 12 c , a shoulder 13 d forming a flange and crossed by one or more free passages 13 e . Inside had been set up the annular piston 14, advantageously in the low position.

On this two-piece container with narrowed neck, the skeleton flange formed by the upper ferrule of well 13 and its free passages could not have been attached directly to the wide lower part of the outer belt without creating undercuts likely to complicate manufacturing.

The first conditioning phase consists in injecting the product 15 under the piston 14, preferably after having purged the air, using the injector capsule 16 in sealed support on the seat 13 c as shown in the figure: we see that the intake tube 13 a , integral with the belt 12 b , can thus both guide the piston by preventing it from jamming and fulfill the role of an injection tube, while the air above the piston is free to escape through passages 13 e as it fills.

The second phase is simply to set up the distributor as shown in Figure 1; the latter here consists of a conventional self-priming pump of a standardized model, previously assembled under a flange 17, its body 18, provided with a vent 18 a , retained in a groove by its flange 18 b . The body is housed in the internal chamber, jacketed in a way by the ferrule forming the top of the well 13; the collar is itself flexible enough so that after tight fitting of the nozzle 18 c of the pump body on the seat 13 c at the upper outlet of the intake tube 13 a , its collar 17 a can in turn be caught under the ribbing 12 c in the groove formed by it, sealing the closure in an equally tight seal. It is clear that, thanks to the position of the passages 13 e , the vent 18 a can then continue to play its role of venting.

Enfin, la version représentée ici comprend encore une tête émettrice 20 qui peut être livrée montée, et une coiffe 21.Finally, the version shown here also includes a transmitting head 20 which can be delivered assembled, and a cap 21.

The above solution will appear more convenient than those already existing. Without the need for other descriptions, it is easy to see that it accepts all sorts of variants of shape, material or assembly of the parts, which we see that they are here injection molded, assembly and sub-assemblies being mounted by simple axial interlocking.
