Abstract

The container has an inner receptacle made from water tight material and containing some water for the flowers. The container is packed in an outer case which extends beyond the length of the flowers. The top of the container is flanged and may be fitted with an open lid. The container is fitted with a tear open string which may be used to separate the top of the container from the base by tearing the string, so that the flowers are exhibited without handling.

Description

 It is known that the transport of cut flowers, in particular bouquets ready for sale, inside standard type packaging presents certain difficulties due to the very delicate nature of the articles concerned. I1 must indeed protect them not only against shocks or bumps likely to damage them, but also against untimely drying.

In addition and in any event, it is essential that upon receipt the packaging is opened to extract the plants or flowers contained and to place them in a presentation container filled with a preservation liquid; However, if such an operation is within the reach of professional florists, the same is not true for the staff of non-specialized stores, in particular self-service stores.

 The present invention relates to a packaging specially designed to ensure, in optimal conditions of safety and simplicity, transport at the same time as the presentation of cut flowers, in particular of bouquets of compounds.

 The packaging according to the invention is essentially remarkable in that it comprises a cardboard box or similar rigid material in the lower part of which is kept a sealed container for enclosing an appropriate quantity of preservation liquid and the side wall of which contains , above the free upper edge of said container, a thinned transverse line associated with a tearing means for easy cutting of said wall for the presentation of the flowers contained.

 The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is capable of providing.

Fig 1 is a schematic vertical section of a package according to the invention shown in the closed transport position.

Fig. 2 reproduced fig. 1 after cutting and elimination of the upper part in order to present the bouquets contained.

As indicated above, the packaging shown comprises a rigid box 1 which will be assumed to be made up of cardboard and present in cross section a rectangular, square or circular profile. The base of this box 1 contains a container or pot 2 of synthetic material, the rim of which is established in the same profile and with the same dimensions as the inside section of said box so as to be beech held in place by wedging.

Immediately above the upper edge of this container 2 the side wall of the box 1 has a thinned line 3 associated with a cutting wire or cord 4, in order to allow, in the manner known per se in the industry of packaging, easy tearing of said wall by pulling on the protruding end of the wire or cord 4, this tearing defining a lower part 5 and an upper part 6.

 The use of the packaging described above follows from the foregoing explanations and is easily understood.

 Prior to the closing of its upper flaps, the container 2 containing an appropriate quantity of a suitable preservative liquid is introduced into the lower part 5 of the box 1. The flowers: for example in the form of bouquets 7, are placed in the box so that the lower part of their stem is immersed in the liquid contained in the container 2, then the flaps of the container are closed. the open end of said box. It will be noted on this point that these flaps are dimensioned to leave uncovered a large central opening which allows the bouquets to "breathe" during transport.

The box can travel without risk of damage to the bouquets 7, protected by the side wall of the packaging and supplied with the liquid contained in the container 2. When the packaging has arrived at the point of sale, it is sufficient to cut it along the horizontal line 3 in order to separate and eliminate the upper part 6. The assembly shown in fig. 2 or it can be seen that the bouquets 7, which continue to be supplied with the liquid contained in the container 2, are presented to the customers and are likely to be directly removed by the latter.

 It should moreover be understood that the above description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the execution details described by all other equivalents.

 CLAIM  Packaging for the transport and presentation of cut flowers, in particular of mixed bouquets, characterized in that it is constituted by a rigid box in the lower part of which is kept a sealed container to contain an appropriate quantity of preservation liquid and of which the side wall comprises, above the free upper edge of said container, a thinned transverse line associated with a tearing means for easy cutting of said wall for the presentation of the flowers contained.
