Abstract

The air conditioning in a motor vehicle is controlled by shutters to distribute and mix hot and cold air. This control is effected via levers acting in conjunction with oscillating cams. The control mechanism comprises a disc shaped cam (1) which rotates about an axis (2) and which is in contact with transfer levers (3). The operating cables are attached to these levers which transmit movement of the cam to the cranked arms (5) on the air distribution shutters. The cam is rotated by cable operated by the vehicle driver or by an electric motor. Fingers (8) on the levers slide in slots (7) in the cam which define the travel and provide end steps for the lever movement. Spirally wound metallic strips on the fingers reduce friction and wear.
