Abstract

The wave power generator comprises a pair of similar hulls (1,2) attached together near the top by a bridge (3) under which there is a compartment housing a turbine and generator. Inside each hull there is a series of sloping shelves, alternate shelves being attached to opposite walls of the hull. Where the sloping shelves meet, hinged valves (29) may make a waterproof seal. Near the base of each hull, on the outer side is an opening (22,23) through which water may enter. As the device tilts to the right, the right opening (22) admits water. During subsequent oscillations of the hulls the water is lifted from one compartment to the next until it reaches the top central bridge compartment (3). From here it supplies the hydraulic turbine unit. Each compartment within the hulls is connected to the atmosphere by a vertical pipe.
