Abstract

The envelope is manufactured with a flap having an adhesive edge. The fold of the flap is fitted with a thin nylon cord which is fixed to the corner edge of the envelope by means of an adhesive tab which holds the end of the cord. The cord is made to lie along the fold of the flap and extends beyond the envelope by one to two centimeters. The free end of the cord is knotted. The envelope is opened by drawing the cord across the fold and tearing it along its length.
