Abstract

A battery powered electric vehicle uses both a heat engine and several multiple bladed fans placed across the front of the vehicle to generate electricity to recharge the batteries. The multiple blade fans recover aerodynamic energy arising from motion of the vehicle or natural wind motion. The fans are mounted transversely across the width of the vehicle and may be placed in rows one behind the other. Alternative arrangements available for the drive are a single electric motor driving the wheels or separate electric motors for each wheel. In both cases, regenerating braking may be used to recover electric energy when the vehicle is slowed or stopped. The heat engine may be operated at constant speed under optimum conditions.
