Abstract

The lock is for the firing pin (3) of a rotating explosive projectile. It has a spiral spring (7) made of a flexible ribbon turned on itself and retained by its own flexibility to a closed position around the firing pin end and below a pin collar (4). The spring is in a housing around the pin and there is sufficient clearance for the spring to unroll under the centrifugal force of the rotating projectile and place itself against the outer housing face (8). This gives free passage for the pin collar for firing.
