Abstract

The drive torque from a rotating machine such as an electric motor is required to be checked for safety reasons to verify the manufacturers figures. The measurement is performed by a dynamometer assembly on a trolley to allow flexibility of measurement. A torque measuring assembly comprises a lever (3) with one end (4) connected to a dynamometer (5). The other end (6) is coupled to the output shaft of a motor under test. This coupling is performed by a sleeve (22) whose diameter matches that of the shaft. A counterweight (19) has a handle (20) to allow the sleeve to be coupled to the motor shaft utilising a key for locking. The whole assembly is mounted on a frame (1) on casters (2) and the motor under test is mounted on a platform (10).
