Abstract

The double glazing system utilises a compound multi-purpose framing section (5). The section provides a 'U' section channel (3) for the glazing (1, 2) with a spacer head (4) and an edge-seal (28) has a vertical leg (9) which masks the rebate of the existing frame (10) whilst locating fixing screws (17) and has ribs (19, 20) locating a clip on strip (21) which masks the screws. The section approximates to an invert 'L' with the root of the leg (9) obliquely inset to recess the fixing screw. Two sec. legs (7, 8) project from the bar (6) to form the glazing channel (3) and the ribs (20, 19) constitute a return of the leg (9) and an internal extension of the bar (6) respectively. In addn. the ribs have grooves n25, 26) locating laminar angled corner fittings, and the channel lips are rounded (32) to locate mastic (34). The legs of the seal (28) are set down and may be internally serrated.
