Abstract

La présente addition concerne des perfectionnements au procédé de traitement sous atmosphère contrôlée décrit dans le brevet principal. On utilise une atmosphère formée d'un gaz porteur constitué par ou contenant de l'azote industriellement pur et d'un gaz actif constitué par un hydrocarbure tel que CH4 , C4 H10 , C3 H8 , C2 H4 , C2 H2 , C2 H6 et par de l'oxyde de carbone introduit sous forme de gaz pur ou obtenu par décomposition du méthanol, le traitement étant effectué entre 750 degrés et 1 150 degrés C. L'invention s'applique au chauffage avant trempe, au recuit, à la carburation et à la carbonitruration des aciers.
