Abstract
PURPOSE:A drip type carburization furnace involves ceramic fiber for wall constituting material and Ni alloy net wire for wall reinforcement. The wire further extends therethrough for catalytic decomposition of organic liquid that is dripped for the purpose of carburization. Such material arrangement accelerates heat decomposition of organic liquid and reduces carburization time to enhance productivity. CONSTITUTION:A carburization furnace involves Al2O3-SiO2 base ceramic fiber that constitutes wall 1 and Ni alloy net wire that covers the wall 1 and further extends spacewisely so that the wire 11 envelops the route of organic liquid that is dripped and decomposed for carburization. In operation, a steel material 5' to be carburized is installed in the furnace, a heating element 4 heats the atomospher in the furnace to a temperature of 800 to 950 deg.C and a solvent mixture of methanol and ethyl acetate is dripped from a tube 8. The net wire 11 catalytically decomposes methanol into H2 and CO carrier gas and ethyl acetate into nascent carbon that rapidly carburize the surface of steel material 5' to be treated.
